Tell me about it. You have to grind hard to get the proper equipment, then you have to constantly and relentlessly intelligently mash buttons just to get good dps. Any deviation like a stun, mez, debuff, etc will drop your dps.

Sometimes I envy the wizzy with their one big red dps button, but then again I love my coercer and think I'd be bored to tears with a wiz.

i think that our competence and years of overwatching pushing us to be better and better while tunning our equip/spellorder for maximazing our character. other classes are just ok with fact that they are marked as t1 dps and nobody cant outparse them even in ninja afk. if that happens, they are calling for nerfs

You must not be on my server, lol. It's pretty common when I see two coercers LFG at the same time

But yes everyone I know says that we are overpowered. I say take a good wizard and give him the same jewelry and buffs and he'll kick our ass... They don't agree.

Oh well.

Oh well.

They'll do a bit more DPS, but offer less to the raid. Which in turn makes the Coercer better than the Wizard, or did you miss that?

Because coercer is the FotM (Flavour of the month). As soon as there are a million new alts/mains of a class theyre first on the hit list from SOE.

The coercer robe nerf was reverted on test as of last patch to remove the fighter update. I imagine that all nerfs will be pending a lengthy review due to the flood of concern about people not wanting nerfs, so this saga will not be over.

Personally when I rolled a Coercer, I was hoping for some of the old EQ1 Enchanter feel, especially solo. Charm something scary, buff it scarier, sick it on something, and pray. Doing very risky soloing for a thrill of watching something hard die was fun.

/agree This was originally what I was looking for in the "Coercer" class when I originally started during launch. (Original version launch several years ago.) Back then Charming was a.. um.. very broken ability and was easily abused. They toyed with it so much before DoF was released that I took a very long break pre DoF to almost right after the Nizara adv pack release there... that I forget the name of... to see how the changes played out.

Unfortunatly it went from an awesome ability to something used for sploiting back to an abtility that was used rarely and at most to pull things while solo-ing and clearing trash.

Charming, unless changed since I quit several months ago, is useless minus moving creatures that are in the way and pulling named out of crouds. That's about it unless you just want to suicide clear mobs to get to a named. Charm is good for that too, but you can't loot corpses and, unless fixed, they rarely drop chests.

Enchanters in EQ2 are Support / DPS classes and have lost any and all the original EQ1 flare, which is sad.

Charm suiciding still yields the occassional chest.

I miss the need for CC, like EQ1, especially with the new "immune to all" trend of raid mobs. For me, it's boring just buffing and DPS'ing.

Yeah, I'm with you Pett. I miss the old enchanter days with a crazy tank that would try to make me and the cleric cry uncle. If I'd wanted to be a dps class, I'd have made a dps class. BUT since CC doesn't mean anything in this game - like I don't even have mez up on my hotbar unless I get desperate and do a PUG - we need the DPS.

EQ1 slowly started nerfing CC as well, from Velius on, because it was so difficult to balance. And it also factored in to their (not entirely successful) attempts to break up the holy trio.
