In the last few weeks all I have heard is that we, as coercers, are getting hit with an enormous nerf bat.

Our pets are already pretty useless and stuns/stifles/mezzes in raids are useless, so the only thing we have for a raid are:

Hate transfer
Mana Regen
DPS
Buffs

Which, as it stands, isn't bad. If I work my ass off, I dps pretty high. If I slack, I don't. But all I hear are summoners bitching about how "overpwered" my class is. I don't see how nerfing my class is going to benefit them or anyone in the raid for that matter.

I've been looking long and hard for an MMO with a class I enjoy...
I really like Coercer and it will sadden me if they nerf us to the extent I've been hearing.

I've heard PoM is in for swing.
I've heard that spell procs will no longer be affected by base damage gear.
And I've heard our dps on the whole will be lowered significantly.


So what IS the deal?
What is actually happening to us, if anyone knows for certain that is.

And also, who else just wants to tell summoners to stfu?

Just remember these changes affect EVERY mage not just coercer.

SOE is just making sure that melee remains king with the new hate/fighter changes.

These changes are all true on Test server.

What's the deal? No body knows because the devs can change their minds and/or certain things just never go live. You know as much as me or anyone else that's not a dev.

The changes most likely to go through are the fighter changes, and thus our hate will be nerfed, but our Link will be changed (improved in my view). I believe PoM will be nerfed as well. The set robes will likely be changed. The proc changes are the least likely to go through. Hopefully that clears things up a bit.

You mean...chanter's (utility class) dps will be on par with a bard's (utility class) dps?

I just had to throw that out there.

IMO, Don't nerf chanters, improve bards!

I just don't get why SOE can't figure out a viable role for coercers without it being dps. I don't mind being a dpser at all, but I could have rolled a wizard. The fact that there are so many immune mobs to our core abilities is just a complete JOKE. Why even have the concept of a coercer if there is no use for our core abilities?

There needs to be a serious revamp in the way a coercer fits into the content. There has to be a need for stuns/mez etc on raids and against named. It cannot be overpowering, but there needs to be something changed.

Unfortunately it seems like the classes are being homogenized into 4 classes, fighter, spell dps, melee dps and healer.

I don't mind being dps, although it's true that it's not what I expected when I clicked the 'create character' button.

The main issue honestly for me is that all we can do is do dps, yet they keep giving us gear that only works with our subjugation spells. You'd think that would be enough of a limitation compared to sorcerers without having to nerf our dps too (although I haven't heard about that nerf to be honest).

About procs not affected by damage gear, *shrug*. Apart from the broken banes, nuking for 1k instead of 1800 every 30 seconds isn't going to make a big difference.

If base damage no longer affects procs and if the proc values are fixed (e.g. no more LoTD and Blessings), I'd lose about 800-1000 dps, which would suck ass. We're already gonna lose close to 600dps just from the hostage nerf.

Edit: this is on palace trash, it would be about 600-800 dps lost on other non-void parses.

Yeah that's true... I guess I don't have ACT so I never really checked how much of my damage is in procs... not sure I want to now... I don't have the VP robe so it's true that the other nerf doesn't affect me much for now.

So scouts will be kings again...

For mages, it varies but up to 33% of our dps is proc-based. Even scouts have about 20% of their dps as proc-based (almost all procs are spell-based), so they are not happy either. Not to mention the healers, etc... thus you can see why this is such a serious issue.
