Default The future of Coercers (and Illusionists)

While I do think devs at least lurk around here anonymously, I figure the only way they will ever take suggestions seriously is if you post on their boards.

The future of Coercers (and Illusionists)

This lists my suggestions on how to give us some quality set gear while not making us even more overpowered. Item progression needs to return to allow us to keep interest in the game; I don't think anyone would disagree.

How that is handled could easily have a lot of opinions, and I welcome them all. The suggestions I have there were just off the top of my head, really. Revamping the entire class probably won't happen again. We have to remember to keep a level head, yelling and screaming doesn't do shit. Quitting might, but thats counter productive imo.

I hated enchanter dps before I actually had to raid on an illusionist, then I understood that it was the only thing keeping the class entertaining. One would easily think that classes evolved in response to underwhelming content, so even if the classes were reverted to strict roles you'd still deal with the problem of severe lack of crowd control scenarios.

His piss poor work kept telling me that I should cancel my accounts... so I finally listened!

you ask them to nerf us
but than say nerfing us further will cause account cancellations

i dont agree with you asking them to nerf us where is the logic, ok nerf my aa's and spells but give me gear to make up for what you take away

It's too bad the developers have never had an idea of what role an Enchanter servers in EQ2. This is why Enchanters have become like we have. We can't do active utility because they don't want us gimping content/soloing content. Thus we have passive utility and DPS. They don't like our DPS being that high because of our passive utility, so they're going to gimp our DPS.

This is the problem that continues on and on and on and on. It sucks, it's stupid, and it's because of the short-sightedness of the original developers who thought that they were making the sequel to EQ1, only they didn't realize their combat mechanics made Enchanters EXTREMELY overpowered and so instead of having things rethought out to have Enchanters being viable active utility we get left in the dust and just ignored outside of DPS issues. I mean the whole Coercer revamp sums it up, instead of making the class useful outside of DPS actively, they just increased the DPS and called it a day.

All in all, why do they even bother keeping an Enchanter class going, we aren't Enchanters, we're just mage bards, instead of the scout bards that exist already.

Mage-bards... exactly sums it up, perfect.

Which is why it's stupid to see "Subjective Alacrity" as a bonus on our set gear. What game are these guys playing?

I can already top the parse if I am in the mage group by a wide margin. In the MT group, I'm #2 or #3. If I was given sorcerer or summoner set gear, I would be leaving them in the dust.

There is no way in fucking hell they are going to boost our set gear to be on par with other classes without taking something away.

I offered a few constructive suggestions which might offset it a bit. If it means taking a small hit until we get our gear, so be it. At least its something to look forward to.

If anyone doesn't think we are currently overpowered as a class when it comes to dps, you are out of touch - and this goes for Illusionists as well.

Nerfing our gear sucks, its the main driving force in raiding. Raiding the content just to raid it gets old. When you kill a mob for the first time and end up transmuting the gear, it sucks ass. When a set piece of yours drops and you don't want it, it sucks ass.

I'd rather be 5th on the parse for a while and work my way back up through gear upgrades than ride the top not getting any loot upgrades while other mages pass me up - and meanwhile I'm not having any fun. It won't last.

ok so you want to be a dps class
but you want them to nerf us fundamentally

and give us gear to make up for it

i am sorry if i wanted to be a summoner i would of rolled one

We are a dps class. We still provide a lot more utility than summoners.

Well, once you're in the mage group topping the parse (I have to run pickup raids to get in the mage group ), your utility is pretty much nil at that point anyways. I mean, casting enraging demeanor on your wizard is funny and all, but all you can do at that point for utility is continue to link people cross-raid and give your bard impetus. Also, I doubt you're out parsing your assassin or (maybe) wizard, not that you should be, so 'topping' the parse may be a bit strong.
