Counterblade
Greetings fellow Coercers,
I am looking to get a detailed explanation of the Strength end line ability call Counterblade. Questions I would have are what can this counter? does the recast timer start from when you cast the spell, when the duration ends or when a spell gets countered? What does it mean when it says Applies only to recial and profession spells?
In the description it says Critical multiplier 1.40, what does that mean?
I know it lots of questions but I would greatly appreciate the help in understanding the fundamentals and please dont reply saying just dont bother to take this line, I am looking for the details and the whys.
Thank you for your time
Neimak

Re: Counterblade
Ok, so now that we got the intelligent replies out of the way, anyone willing to explain to me the why? Or are we all in the dark and just follow those who tell us not blindly. People who tell me why without reasons behind it obviously dont know enough on the topic. Thank you and hoping to hear from those who would like to share their thoughts.

Re: Counterblade
I had an extremely short blurb about it in my achievements facq. Honestly the best way to figure out is to test it yourself, and see what it does.
Basically, it's a combat art that will negate only spells that normal player-classes can cast. NPCs are imbued with a number of skills, but usually are based around a specific class. It won't block any special attacks.
It will only counter a skill that the mob casts while it is debuffed with counter. If counter wears before the mob casts a counter-able spell, it simply ends. The ca's recast starts as soon as it finishes casting.
The critical modifier is something that's on all damage spells and ca's. If a damage art successfully crits, the damage is either max damage + 1 to max damage x critical multiplier.
So basically it has almost no defensive value, and almost no offensive value, and thus no utility aside from having a low combat art to use.

Because the end line Agi makes it so that you cast insanely fast, thereby allowing you to get more spells off over time, and the int line increases all of you spell damage (aka most of your DPS) by 15% base. The str endline in no way, shape, or form comes close to the DPS you gain from agi and int end lines. This is especially true because of the fact that most named in TSO have an AE that you have to joust otherwise you will get wrecked. If you are in meleeing, you're gonna drop perp from the Agi endline while running out.
Some of the str line is nice for dps, especially on trash clears, but getting the whole line is just a waste and will only hinder your DPS as opposed to helping it.

I think Revel answered the OP's Question - he wasnt questioning why he should use the AGI/INT endlines.

Re: Counterblade
Way back in the day when AA were first released Counter Blade was pretty awesome for raids. With a few chanters swinging it it would shut off most AEs.
But then it quickly got nerf to hell and it now only good for PVP, if anything at all.
