Re: BP vs BP?
Well, the goal of using the training dummy to compare gears it to compare dps... I never use puppetmaster, so having to use it to proc hostage would still give me inaccurate numbers. i guess if you use it it's different though... and you could use it too when you use the other robe.

Re: BP vs BP?
But if you are comparing robes that give you a boost to hostage against a robe that doesnt give you anything for hostage, you are going ot want to proc hostage during the tests to better simulate the raid environment. Only way to accurately test all those extra triggers of hostage vs. the spell and crit you get on say the robe of undying is to use puppetmaster, otherwise you will be missing alot of procs of hostage.

Re: BP vs BP?
i agree with cloakntuna and also use puppetmaster. my problem with the puppet is that i can recast hostage but not puppetmaster. the puppet usually is down shortly after hostage is up the second time. usually i have time to trigger hostage only 1 more time with tthe AA melee attack bevore the puppet is down. iŽd need a puppet with a bit less health or a bit more damage :-)
btw: my recast on hostage is 17,9 with vp robe or 17,4 sec with varson robe set up iŽd wish i had pricias reuse too but at least my casting speed is quite high :-)

Re: BP vs BP?
you should be able to proc hostage with your melee and possess the training dummy to add a pet. this will help account for only being able to cast puppet once.

Yea, that was misleading a bit..the highest I have seen yet is 102% base damage mod, and that's avatar gear + charm set..

Your reuse mod sucks m8. Make sure you have a zerker in the raid, you wear the cloack of unrest (yea I know it's eof, but since void bane nerf you have little to no alternatives) and some other reuse crap like having an SK in group. Reuse speed is way underestimated..

Re: BP vs BP?
Ok, I've worked on that a bit again... the training dummy essence was slow proccing hostage. I didn't always get the 8 procs before it was up again, and the second time I cast hostage, I got maybe one or two procs before it died.
So yes, it really doesn't compare to raiding or grouping, where the procs go off immediately. Hard to judge. Even then though, I was still parsing 500 more dps in average with the robe of spectral coercion (7500 dps in average, with Hostage every 15,4 seconds without procs, 76% crit and 900 damage), compared to the robe of undying (7000 dps in average, 76% crit and 1000 damage).
Now of course, it doesn't mean anything as I didn't do a ton of testing, but just thought I'd throw it out there... I want a dummy with more HPs!
