Default Pros and Cons of betraying to coercer

Starting back up my illy for a while and see what i can get accomplished with him. I was wondering though, what would be the benefits of switching to a coercer? My illy is only lvl 40 atm and soloing but might do some grouping here and there. Thank you for any ideas you have upon this.

40 was the level I betrayed my illy to a coercer :D Don't have any useful information to give though, other than commenting that the coercer fabled epic is such a walkover to get.

Warning, there might be some noobness in the following statements: you don't get alacrity, TC or some of the other buffs that make groups very happy, though I believe we get slightly better power regen abilities and of course charm/possess essence which can be VERY handy - but only in isolated incidents. I think on the whole both Illus and coercers are both powerful classes and a definate asset to any group, though I do see groups advertising specifically for illys rather than enchanters as a whole (I'm not sure if this is because people are lazy just type 'illy' which makes sense unlike 'ench' or 'coer').

Both classes are pretty equal soloing at that low leve until you get to where you're comfortable with charming. Charming, and charm-suiciding, is quite useful to get through areas where there are see invis mobs without having to work very much, although you can be just as creative with mez and feign death tinker items.

The rest Ofifi covered pretty well imo.

Alright, well, thanks for the additional info Not for sure if im switching but playing a monk, its a new game for me playing as a enchanter As far as dps patterns and stuff like that go, i guess i'll have to research here and on illy forums. Cant just mash buttons like you can with a monk

Am actually looking to go the other way at the moment. Coercer is obviously FOTM on Nagafen and is completely flooded with them. Can Illy do as much of the stuff that coercers are needed for, like interrupting Varsoon etc?

No, we cant
Coercers have an insane amount of stuns and stifles compared to an illy.

I didn't think ultraviolet beam had the interrupt component that hemorrhage does. That's why the coercer is important on that fight, for when chimes are down it helps a ton. Unless you have a superstar wanna be tank brigand that is good at taunting varsoon.

The stuns of coercers make mez almost useless at lvl 80. Once you get some reuse gear and learn how to time your stuns you can keep single targets stun locked for about ever and stun incoming adds to give everyone time to stabilize.
