Default 3 Healer Fights.

We normally run guard, dirge, assassin, defiler, templar and coercer (me) in the MT group. Occasionally, on the harder hitting mobs the raid leader will swap me out for a warden.

What do think is a better 3 healer group? One with an assassin or a coercer? I know what I bring to the group but I'm not so sure what the assassin brings as I've never played one. He parses about 10k while I do about 8.5k (we are 1 and 2 on the parse) so he's adding more hate but is there more to it? I would think my healer buffs would be more valuable on the tougher fights as most of our healers aren't heal crit capped. Agility buff adds about 1% avoidance to the MT. Then there's the extra ability of feeding power to the MT.

I haven't got enough set pieces for the 15% cast increase yet.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind not being in the MT group. It would be nice to get mage buffs every now and then.

I would have to say that if they are actually in a situation to need 3 healers then they probably also would benefit from coercive healing and your group heal crit buff.

With AA most people would agree that the coercer is the top hate booster and the top mana regen.

In other words, unless you're a really crappy coercer (and it doesn't sound like you are) I would say the switch you're talking about is a big dum dum.

Assassin adds:
1. Apply Toxins (usually about 250-500 dps)
2. Hate transfer at 17%
3. Pathfinding!

Coercer adds:
1. Hate gain 22%/transfer 22% (max aa's)
2. Coercive healing (15% base and casting speed and reuse)
3. Empathic (16% heal crit, though many healers are cap/near cap)
4. Passive Power regen
5. Active Power Management
6. DPS buff to mt/dirge
7. Sometimes arcane cures, though you can do it cross raid

That's where the Assassin wins out right there.

If you're needing 3 healers in the MT group, the coercer is definitely better than the assassin, especially considering the mob is probably going to have a bunch of hard hitting AEs too, meaning that the assassin's dps is going to go down which also means his hate xfer is going down too, if that is what your raid leader/mt is looking for.

You forgot our Uber Healer Shorterm, Intellectual Remedy! Not to mention Peace of Mind, which helps the MT generate much more aggro, possibly matching Apply Toxins for overall DPS output.

Ironic afterthought: Poisons can no longer crit, but the damage from the ability "Apply Toxins" can still crit. gg

Another possibility is that the OP's guild is short on hate transfer/hate gain buffs for the other tanks. And perhaps the fights that the guild needs the warden for, are the ones where the OT actually needs hate gain/hate transfer. A coercer would beat an assassin for hate transfer on an AOE fight, so maybe that was the real reason for the swap.

But if there are enough hate gain buffs to go around, the coercer in the MT group is a clear winner.

I never understood why someone would opt to put a druid in the MT group. It adds essentially nothing that couldn't be done from outside of MT group (wuwu group regen....)

We always use a Warden for difficult named fights due to their Critical Debilitiation ability which raises the tank's Crit Mit significantly.

Apply Toxins is an ability, that's why.
