Default HoDD vs Coercive hood of twisted thoughts

With the proc changes, is the HoDD still the best non avatar hat for us? More importantly is it enough better than the set piece hat?

If I wear the set piece, I get the 6 piece bonus, , so I'm trying to figure out which is better.

HoDD should still add about 200 DPS even with the proc changes.

Rough estimate is that the Procs (with set bonus) from the other would be about 160. Other stats on the helm make it a close call but I think the HoDD still wins out.

well one of my raid leaders found out about the 6 set bonus and we have a crusader mt. So they asked and i'm trying to see if its better, if i can muster my arguments, and if its lost enough that the set piece hat is only slightly worse, it might be worth swapping. If all i gain is 40 dps, then I wouldn't be losing that much and the tank and raid overall would be gaining alot.

Sooo, i'm trying to figure out if the HoDD is enough better than giving our tank +10% dps boost. Hmmm, I already get the 5 set bonus with the proc, i'm talking about the 6 set one, that adds +10% ca and spell damage to enraging demeanor.

The best is when you can get in the mage group and put Enraging Demeanor on yourself for the 10% base damage. With a troub and link, it makes up for any additional hate you may gain.

I don't have the HoDD yet anyways, so the decision is really easy for me

I do like the idea of putting Enraging on me. That would be funny. Might want to take the aa out of it though. lol

You would still be well below the -50% hate gain cap. And since you don't "Transfer" hate to yourself, the hate modifications are completely harmless, regardless of your AA's in Enraging Demeanor.

Again, you'd have to have a troubador though. Otherwise, the Link basically cancels out the hate gain with a few extra points depending on your AA in Link.

Yah I was thinking of the wrong set.

Its still a close thing and really I think the rest of your gear also comes into consideration. It isn't a straight up 10% DPS boost to the tank since they most likely doing a considerable amount of their DPS using auto attack.

I would love to hear Revel's thoughts.

Well that would be cool, if i get moved from mt group to a troub group, but for the time being, I've got to deal with the issue of how much would i be losing if i swapped the HoDD for the tso set piece hat.

Most high-end coercers don't really care because they are already at or near base damage cap, and they have no desire to wear the bulk of our set gear anyways. When they do, its to benefit the group/raid.

While its nice to have the 10% base damage all to your self if you aren't in the MT group, they have far better gear they could wear in a mage group to get base damage so wearing 6-pieces to get it is probably VERY low on their list.

But to those of us who don't have access to that better gear, IMO its a nice compromise. The Troub still gets his 5% melee crit bonus, the sorcs get the 15% cast speed, the mage group is happy. Its not like there is anyone you can put ED on in a mage group anyways.

this thread seems to have gotten derailed. The OP was how much better is the HoDD over the tso set piece helm. I am curious because the proc changes have hit, and how much would i actually lose if any, switching from HoDD to the set piece hat.

Getting away from the set bonuses and stuff. That's the key question. From that, I can figure out the rest.
