Default What does 'Channel' Do?

Recently i betrayed from an coercer to an illusionist, now i'm back to a coercer again, as i was obtaining my new spells, one caught my eye, this was Channel, after reading the horribly designed description (at least for me, i REALLY don't understand it..) i decided to come on here and ask for some info as to what it really does.

I suffer from a "Sort" of dyslexia, so the wording is rather painful for me to comprehend, if someone could put it into easier terms (just what it does exactly, and provide an explanation (if possible, E.G spell cast costs 300 power, returns 30 if Channel is up) that would be grand.

Thanks!

the t8 version creates power as well, the power amounts are not logged so you cant actually see how much it creates. but typically if your group or several members are running low you can hit channel and often return full power to your entire group, provided there are at least 1 or 2 ppl in your group who arent hurting so bad...

So if for example, the entire groups power combined is equal to say.. 600%

It grabs that 600% as a number and splits it equally between each individual group member, giving them all 100% power each?

Or as another example, 400% power between them all, then it divides 400 by 6 and gives each member a part of it, giving each group member 66% power?

That's what i've managed to grasp :-)

Yes, except as Destriel said, the T8 master actually creates power. So if you have 400% power total, you will probably end up with between 500-550% power split among the group. Those numbers are just guesses though, not actual hard numbers, but as Des said, with 2 people around 100% power and most others being somewhat good with 1 or 2 members hurting for power, you will probably end up w/ ~90% + power for all of the group.

According to EQ2i the master version doubles the sum of the groups power before redistributing it. This fits my experience - when the group is quite empty I can hit Mana Flow to get myself full and then channel and we're around 60% full. If there's one more with 75% or so mana (which is the norm), group is full afterwards.

Dont use % it will just confuse you.

If your group's total power was 60,000 out of 80,000 possible, it would give everyone 10k power. Master level would give something like 20k each (capping everyone).

so, this is something you should hit after teh fight starts and people's power is going down? or should you hit it early?

i'm at level 65, and we've just started having power problems, so i'm finally trying to learn the mana spells.

I mostly use it as my "oh shit" power save when the group is getting very low. I'll manaflow to get myself full then bam, channel the group so we're juiced and ready to keep going.

No its not smart to pop it early when people their power is just starting to run low. For me its a rescue, so basically when healers are running out of power or whenever a big part of my raidgroup died and were rezzed with low power. But all in all power isn't something managed completely by the Coercer, its a group/raid effort. There is only so much a Coercer can do to manage power, so if you have a scout in your group who decides to be a complete idiot when it comes to power and burns through every drop he has with you working your ass off, tough luck for him.

Imo Channel only has 2 priorities and is only used as a last resort: Healers and Tank
