Default Hate Transfer ftl?

I've been having an issue lately in a couple of TSO raiding instances, where when the OT died, the mob he was fighting would then come for me 2nd before wreaking havok on the rest of the raid.

The biggest example of this is in ToMC - Xebnoc. When the OT dies, or is about to xfer to the MT, Xebnoc goes straight for me (and when I mean straight for me, he's running across the whole room to get to me) he kills me, then runs all the way back to engage the MT. Since I've got the hate xfer on the OT, I'm going balls deep with dps. But I'm usually 6th on the parse in my raids because of my gear.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because the MT coercer never seems to have this happen to him when the MT goes down.

Does anyone know why the Mob would go for me specifically? With the xfer, i should think that I would be one of the lowest on the totem pole. Shoot, the Brigand in the raid should be destroyed before me, right?

When the OT dies, does that mean I get all that hate back?

Well... if you are killing wtv the OT is killing then chances are you are second on the hate list of those mobs if you are dieing right after. There is nothing strange about that, thats how aggro works my friend.

If the MT coercer is not dying right away then you can assume a few different things.. one he is not parsing very high...perhaps there is a scout parsing higher (swashy)...or just maybe he is monitoring his hate better using deaggro's and the like.

If the MT dies in my group in raids I could get pasted first or second depending on if the Swashy in my group was getting a good burn on...or I could be last.. it all depends where you are in that magical little hate meter on your screen.

If your MT coercer isn't dying right after the MT dies then he's not trying hard enough.

And yes, it sure feels like you get all the aggro you had been transferring when your target dies.

i´d say get used to it. dying comes with high dps.
but do you only have those problems lately? did anything change? do you make much more dps now? the only reason of you dying i can imagine is you beeing very high on the hatelist. as you loose the hate transfer when the tank dies 1-2 high dmg spells put you on place 1 quickly. short term buffs are great for gettting aggro too so if you cast Ghost healing or whatever its called in english bevor your tank went down that might also be another reason for increased aggro.

usually its just the highest parsers (or fastest casters on memwipe mobs) that get to kiss the floor a lot :-)

if the mob comes running from a long distance you could use trakanons gaze as a last resort if you can get a hold of it. (you can switch it in and out of the slot during the fight with a macro) this sure saves me a lot of times! many people seem to think traks gaze only helps until your very next spell puts you on your old position on the hate list again and dont bother to spend dkp on it. but i made other experiences and highly recommend it. After using trakanons gaze i climb back up the hatelist step by step. it buys me a LOT of time for dps. usually like 15-30 sec or whatever bevor i´m in the 80ies again.

another desperate measure can be casting manaward on yourself and moving TOWARDS the tank hoping that he can land a rescue spell on time.

on some mobs you can even use crowd controll. i tend to forget about it in raidzones myself but many adds are just normal heroics and can be stunned/mezzed. even epic mobs can be stunned etc but it only buys you like 0,5 sec or whatever and if the second tank is slacking he wont get the mob off you on time anyways

slacking tanks or slacking ammend targets are the main reason for me dying anyways cause i wont slack for sure hehehe. a high dps coercerer keeps a tanks wits sharpened cause of our extrem dps peaks when our reactives are up.

cause you mentoned Xebnoc beeing your top killer... we usually have 3 tanks there cause our roost is a bit heavy on the melee and tank side anyways. 2 on xebnok and a third to tank the adds.
the 3rd tanks duty is also to intercept xebnok or whatever else might head topwards the raid so i really dont understand why you have to die so often specially when xebnok has to run across the whole room to get to you. slackers everywhere :-)

There are several options for pos. deaggro... so learn to use them cause if ur doing ur job this issue is normal since a long time... Even in our old days timing mob spells

I was wondering....is your OT a paladin perhaps?
Are you his amend target?
Is the MT a guardian?
If you are amend target of a paladin it might easly be that you die as soon as he dies .
On Xebnoc it happened to me quite often till the MT did learn to get his aggro up faster.
Anyway you should look at your aggro and be rdy to cast bewilderment, and probably stop casting during the switch, in the long run, your dps is better if you survive the whole fight, then if you waste time waiting for a rezz and rebuffing.
If you are not amend target, then try put link on you, and don't waste bewilderment as a nuke.
And yeah Trakky gaze saved my life many times.

Three other things to consider:
  • All your mana regen contributes to aggro. This would explain why you place 6th on DPS but still pull aggro.
  • Xebnok memwipes on the charm/curse, and fast casters (ie., 'chanters) are extremely likely to grab aggro after a memwipe. In addition to plenty of dots, 'chanters have a good chance of being the next user to cast a decent damage spell (>4k damage). A 4k spell + regen tick + procs + dps tick == aggro after a memwipe.
  • If the mob has enough aggro to chase after you, then a taunt typically won't stop the mob -- you need positional de-aggro or the tank needs a positional aggro.
  • The MT needs to push aggro when the OT takes over and be ready with a rescue when the charm occurs.
  • While I wouldn't say your MT coercer is slacking, I'd also be willing to bet you consistently place above the MT coercer in DPS...
