Default Hypnosis: Limited Testing

I tried out the new version of Hypnosis on the PvP Test server, pretty much purely to see what, if anything, it would do. We tried out the new raid zone, and I tried Hypnosis on everything we fought. The mobs were all orange and were either golems (the brick-like ones in New Tunaria) or elves (Tunarians). Against the golems I got the "Some targets cannot be charmed" message and against the elves I got "Target too powerful" message. I couldn't use it against a single mob that we faced. None of the ones that I tried to use it on were nameds.

We didn't try any other raid zones, but I'm thinking the results would be the same regardless. This is something I wrote to Lockeye about - he can make Hypnosis work on some epics, but the zone designers have to allow it to work in their zones. Middling interesting concept, DOA as a useful ability.

Just give us AoE immunity with a min recast and 10 sec duration. That would make taking that line worth it.
or
Make it so all epics minus named are charmable.

It is a wisdom line which affects resists so an aoe immunity endpoint would make sense.

You know what would rock a spell for coercers that makes target immune to control effects (stun.stifle.mezz.daze.fear.root.snare)

The point is that Lockeye can design the ability in whatever fashion, but if it checks to see if the mob is charmable, then it will fail. Lockeye has no control over what the zone designers decide to make charmable or not.

I initially thought that 'weaker epics' was a way of saying 'not a named'. Given my experience with the Tunarians, who were certainly not named, that isn't the case.

The wisdom line, like the sta line, is a mixed bag. It has Daydream, which now reads like Sever Empathy used to - makes other encounters not come to help the one the group is attacking. There is the passive resist buff and the passive focus and subjugation buff. Finally there is Hypnosis. I'm not really seeing much of a unifying theme in there.

Already exists. It's called Sanctuary.

The thing is, you will never be able to charm a mob that is part of a script, and as most mobs in the game now are part of some script, teh screwed!

Okay, another datum point. I went into EH and tried one of the flying water snakes that are the first mob in there. No scripts that I am aware of are tied to those mobs.

"Certain enemies cannot be charmed"

Useless. Just useless.

Tired it on everything in HoS.

Nothing charmable.

They just fucked it up like always, give it a few months and it will work on 1 or 2 mobs in the game.
