Re: Coercer Raid role
Well, I can't envision SoE changing a coercer's raid role that significantly. Right now, we're there to stun/daze/stifle, control power replenishment, dps, memwipe, buff and debuff.
I don't expect many new skills or spells being implemented. For control spells, It'd be nice to find a real use for mez, but right now it just hurts dps or is used as a last ditch option. I don't have any problems with the other control spells. Our ability to power regen is fine too, since there are so few classes that actively control it like we do. Problems with our role as DPS have already been covered in the other threads, with the cries about reactive damage, bolt of energy and etc. As far as buffs, although I don't want to be just a buffbot, although at the same time I envy illusionists' buffs.
In short, I'd be satisfied if they did these things for raiding coercers:
1. Make interesting, well thought encounters that require more than dps'ing massive waves of adds plus curing dots
2. Improve our ability to dps by altering our current spell mechanics
3. Make a really useful RoK enchanter/coercer armor set (and continued to make other useful raiding mage items)
4. Give us a few more useful buffs that are different or at least complement other classes (as single target hate increase already overlaps and goes over the cap with dirges, single target hate decrease may overlap with a troubadour's, power/arcane mitigation is pretty pointless)
5. Change charm to something useable, if not useful (My perhaps far-fetched suggestion, considering that most non raiders feel that charm is the base skill of the class, would be to get rid of the charm mechanic entirely, to be replaced by a permanent pet like some kind of golem that could be buffed by the coercer by copying other mobs/ friendly PC's powers. So instead of charming a mob that you want, you'd just copy powers and reshape your pet.)
