Default Thinking about betraying

My coercer was my first lvl 70 toon and she was a blast to level, solo and group with but I almost never pull her out anymore to raid. We have another coercer in our group which I use in the OT group.

I hate to do it but otherwise she only comes out to check sales and put new items in the bank...

Anyone else thought about this?

It's up to you, I'm not going to go into all the things that are good about illusionists since I'm sure you already know; they're more desired for sure because of this. I personally dislike betraying since I find it easier to just level a new toon, gearing them up is a bit of a chore I suppose.

yeah I don't have the time I used to so betraying is probably the only way for me.

I am pretty sure other than the hat all her gear is neutral so wouldn't have to re-gear.

I acutally just feel guilty doing it.

I suppose it's kind of like 'taking the easy way out,' but since there's unlikely to be any positive changes to coercers until they do the spell consolidation (which would take a long time), I wouldn't feel guilty about not waiting it out.

I've thought about it many times, and part of me wants to just level an illusionist (which I've started to do on 3 seperate occasions). I just don't see how they can actually make the class fill a roll.

If you want to betray, nows the best time to do it. By the time you get used to being an illu RoK would have come out, meaning you'd have all app 1 spells no matter what you did. Well, except for the ancient teachings and stuff. So if you don't like it you can betray back without REALLY losing much.

I've started a new illusionist myself after I started comparing abilities and such. I doubt I'll raid with the illy anytime soon since my coercer is pretty much a mainstay in the MT group (which I'm perfectly fine with), but there is very little reason to use one elsewhere over an illy if you have a choice between the two.

Heck right now, if it wasn't for hate control, there would be pretty much nothing we would have over an illusionist. Here's to hoping for some love in the future. I'm actually looking forward to the spell consolidation and the fact that the devs have acknowledged that power drains don't do jack on raids.

You could drop the 'on raids' at the end of that sentence. Power drains might have some use in PvP (which I don't do, so I don't know) but otherwise a mob is dead before it runs out of power or depleting its power does little or nothing to the mob - as per design since LU13.

I honestly don't see much that can be consolidated, unless they consolidate the group buffs that use concentration into one buff that in turn only uses one concentration slot.

In all honesty, i have a feeling that an STR/INT specd coercer in the MT group can get 2k ZWs with the right gear. I mean, if you take away AAs, both enchanters parse about the same. And since melee is melee...well...i know i got like 1300 DPS just from autoattack when i took STR/INT. Granted it was with a 2her, but i didnt have any melee skill buffs so i had a shit hit rate. With cheldraks shard or a GDOH after changes, along with a few nice DPS items like the ivy earring and thy 3princes symbol, im pretty damn sure its possible.

I tried STR for a little bit a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed. Granted, I was only using a cold-blooded blade from unrest and was only at like 200 str...so there's alot left there to be desired.

I'm AGI/STA right now and can easily parse 1k+ depending on the fight(s). The % crit heal is nice and severe hate is a decent substitute for thoughtsnap, but it does hamstring my DPS by not having INT.

But yeah, if hate control is out of the picture, the illy and coercer will be pretty close parse-wise given an AGI/INT setup with equal proc gear. The difference is the illy can give out MUCH better buffs.
