Raid tanks don't use taunts?
I am not a tank. But yesterday, a member of the most dominant raid guild of my server posted the following:
It says "many raid tanks no longer have taunts on their hotbars".
I am curious, how many of the fine raid tanks here, no longer have taunts on their toolbars?

With a 0.2 second casting time and very small power use, there's little reason not to use them. I very much doubt that many tanks actually abstain from pushing those buttons unless they are exceptionally lazy. I'm sure that the person you quoted was just exercising a little hyperbole - compared to auto attack, or reactive taunt procs, the hate they generate is tiny, which is likely the point they were making, though I find it hard to believe a 'high end raid tank' would pass up more hate unless their raid was doing no dps at all in which case they wouldn't be a high end raid tank.

Endgame tanks still taunt. I don't think I've ever heard of this geeglin tool.

I hope this wizard never plays a tank, or if this is true Strike must DPS incredibly low.

Procs are that, procs. Auto attack is the largest hate generating factor for a tank. With full taunt proc gear (meaning shit off hurricanus too) chances are proc aggro would probably equal out to taunt aggro.

I was referring to skills such as inflaming defense, and not gear.

Re: Raid tanks don't use taunts?
As a guard i only taunt in 2 cases:
1) I'm pulling/tanking a group of mobs. Or trash. On single target named pulls, especially the orange ones, I still use a CA with a really high hit rate so that theres no chance of a resist or something.
2) When nothing else is up. Hitting a taunt is still better than hitting nothing at all.
The best way to hold aggro is through DPS, not taunts.

It is true that the best way to hold agro is through DPS. I wouldn't say that tanks aren't using taunts, especially in the beginning of fights with all the mages with itchy trigger fingers.

Re: Raid tanks don't use taunts?
Taunts are pretty fucking useless, I don't use shit like confront ever and I only use protection on pulls. Everything else is a waste of power, right now I can't fucking keep my power up unless I have 4 chanters going thru a rotation on me. Taunts are just a fucking joke.
I won't say I never use them. but I can't afford the 50 power it takes to use them =)
