Why dont we try a little experiment instead of wanking off about how uber some players are...

Pick a zone, go fight 10 of [insert mob name here] SOLO, and post the min/max/ZW parse's for those 10 encounters. That would actually give the OP something to work from and answer the OP's question. Remember to include your lvl/gear information so that the OP can take that into account.

If you are worried about some classes soloing better than others, get a group together, and cancel all buffs before you do it.

what would that possibly show? How does soloing dps at all relate to raid dps?

/boggle

note: I do not see yellow text.

I really think it's irrelevent trying to see unbuffed numbers.

It's a very hard topic. The best way to get a feel for it would be trolling the class forums and gathering the intel individually.

Or maybe ask people to post thier raid ZW parse so you can see what they are doing in say protector's realm for example.

Already thought of that, the problem is you have a very skewed bias, specifically self selection bias, in that only those highest tier archetypes of each class post what is likely them on their best day (Slippery comes to mind...).

That data set is utterly meaningless should one attempt to say "hey what dps should I be expecting from the lock vs. wiz vs. necro" etc.

-h (even using percentages has a fatal flaw)
If you have one of every class in your raid that will be amazing.

Use common sense please. I meant of % of total damage.

How many raids roll 24 different classes? Plus how many raids will have all 6 of their totally different priest classes all dpsing at the same time?

The math isnt an exact science. its my personal guideline.

My advice to the original poster though is... If you think he is slacking show him. recruit another of his class threw them in the same group in raid. And the post the parses. His next excuse is mute. if he sucks replace his arse. plain and simple. If the replacement isnt as good then your point is mute and the replacement is back to Looking for guild like they were before anyhow.

'else you ass hits the door.

Well, let's see, there's gear and spell quality, they don't change at all. Spell selection, yeah that changes. On solo mobs I'm getting to a point where I don't bother with most of my dots, the mob dies too fast, and I do better with just direct nukes. I'm sure other classes have similar issues.

We could post parses of solos versus the training wall. That takes longer to kill, so it isn't about making sure all your big hitters are up at the beginning of the fight. Or at least not quite as much. It doesn't answer the OP's question, though, which was, what's an acceptable level of dps from various classes on a raid.
