Default Tried in the fire? Or smuggled through the roster?

...it all depends on whether these upcoming epic questlines have solo trials that separate the talkers from the walkers. Anyone can ride the coattails of a good group or good raid.

will never happen, if you want a truly difficult solo encounter it would have to each be tailored to each class according to strenghths and weaknesses. The good soloing classes will have will have an advantage and if you want to make it hard for them you will have to make it impossible for everyone else...thats why all solo trials will be relatively easy thus giving weaker rewards and the only possible progression of difficulty can be done through then group and ultimately raid encounters...

The impression they left is that each class gets its own questline anyway.

It could be made class-dependant in that it requries you to know your class well.

For example, say there is a mob for the templar quest. when the mob gets to X % it does a flurry attack. If your group ever has more than a 30% spread from most damaged to most healthy, the group is killed on the spot. Sounds like a bitch? Sure. Solution? Divine Arbitration. (IIRC how divine arb works properly, that is, evens out HP percentage by taking from the haves and giving to the have-nots)

Or the bard line, require certain songs at certain times, or else mobs of X type song. Maybe a crazy (some type of character that would be demanding music) that screams what song he wants to hear, and the bard must play it within X seconds or a wave of mobs spawn. If you miss too many songs you don't 'die outright' but you'll be burried under a horde of 'angry mob Y'

Assassins - the mob can only be killed with decap at a certain percent. The raid only allows one assassin in the zone. Alternately, the assassin must assasinate a certain mob in a mess of mobs. The longer it takes to find the mob the more mobs spawn. The 'mark' has some distinguishing feature but it should not be obvious at first glance. Ideally the assassin should be able to sneak off and assassinate the mark by himself, but only after coordinated raid effort isolates the mark.

Or other such mixes. I don't know all the classes but surely something similar could be done (require raid and require active participation of the epic-recieving class)

i agree that adding a solo section to epic quest would be cool but to have a raid/group be dependent on the soloer's succes is lame. i like the EH that's cool coz if one fails the raid moves on, obiously if someone fails in a quest progresion then your stuck redoing the step and that would include evryone. solo is just like raiding it requires trial and error, developing a strat and the carring out this strat to victory. i feel the solo part of the these quest should be instanced and should maybe be ever changing, it will also have to be somewhat taperd to the class. i rember MoA (solo intance) was so dam easy on my necro, but i failed 3 or 4 times on my troub.

If the epic questline can be completed on autofollow, then it's nothing to rave about or be measured by.

Way way back at the start of the game there were class and subclass specific quests. You had to complete that quest to become your class and later subclass. Those quests were tailored to your archtype and class respectively. There is no reason that they can't tailor another quest line to the subclasses.

And if any quest devs read this, epic quest line solo content does not include 25 dragon language runes or 50 statues. Zone>click>zone>click x 50 doesn't = content.
