    Default Epic Strategy provides diffrent rewards?

    Alright I haven't posted much here but I have been reading alot from these boards and wanted to throw an idea past ya guys and see what ya think about it from a raiding standpoint.

    The idea is this, lets say X epic mob has a loot table of Y items. Now when ya kill that mob your gonna get Z item. Now this idea would change things up a little. Lets say for all intents and purposes the mob has 4 drops, each thing has a 25% chance to drop. Now instead of the mob only being able to be killed in 1 way or 1 "strat" it has multiple strats to kill it. Each strat although similar would be diffrent and give the mob a greater percentage chance to drop items of a specific type. Bear with me here, so X mob can be killed 4 diffrent ways each way changing the percentage of the drops. Lets say for strat A you have to actually kite the mob but in return for doing such a difficult and ultimatly annoying strat you have a 35% instead of a 25% chance to drop a bow or a quick weapon you would need for running down a mob.

    Each strat would raise the percentage of diffrent items to drop BUT would still leave the loot table open for all 4 items to drop. The reason this idea came to mind was after seeing all the posts from the chests of tarinax or MO having 3 of the same crap and what not. A way to prevent 3 or however many items from dropping is that once the loot table is assigned to the mob the first item gets the 35% the second of that same item gets reduced down to 5% so there is a greater chance the chest will have a couple useful items in each chest.

    I can see some of the arguements to this now though. If you could do it this way why would anyone bother trying to get the "crap" drop. Well the crap drop still has a chance to drop however the itemization (evil bad word not known eq2 i know) would make it so that every drop off the super bad epic bastard would actually be useful but in order to get a higher chance at the piece that will help the tank or the healer or the scouts would have to be killed in a diffrent fashion.

    EXAMPLE: Lets say X epic mob has 4 diffrent ways to kill it each of them in their own right difficult. 1 way would require 6 people stationed throughout the zone (providing this is a end boss and the zone is clear up to him) each person would be at a lever that needs to be pulled within 5 to 10 seconds of a triggered event in the boss room. Like the mob says something similar to "The flood of death will consume you!" and if the lever at the "hatch" isn't pulled the zone begins to fill with water and all water breathing effects are turned off and unable to be cast. Since there are 6 people are not in the boss room the boss wouldn't be quite as hard as other mobs but if the lever isn't pulled it could wipe the raid. To add an even greater element of challenge to it, heroic mobs would spawn nearby to the lever every minute or so. The heorics wouldn't be unmanageable but would make sure everyone is on their toes throughout the whole fight. Due to fighting it in this way you get a higher percent chance for X drop from the mob. The Boss would have 3 or 4 diffrent ways to kill it using the zone itself and not just running in beating on it, memwipe grab it back beat it some more, cure trauma beat it some more oh look a knock back... run back in kill it some more... yay memwipe again kill it some more. It would not be something PUG raids would be able to accomplish easily due to lack of communcation but a "good" raid guild would have a challenge and not just another "yay we farmed the zone again i feel uber woopdee fricken doo.

    These are just ideas and they could be expanded upon. If ya like or hate or whatever post, flame away if ya gotta heh. If nothing else it would take away from the boringness of some of these encounters. Who knows with enough player input a dev "might" actually get some inspiration to make something fun and not just a hack and slash fest.

    Good idea except for one thing, the Devs have trouble coming up with one way for a mod to die much less having them come up with 3 or 4 different ways to die.

    It doesn't matter how you kill a mob, if you kill a mob legitly you should have the same chance for the same reward as everybody else. Killing a mob should differently rewards yourself for thinking up a different way to kill it than everybody else.

    Oh I agree, but if they can't steal their ideas from somewhere, where they gonna get em? Last time i checked everything in EQ2 was just a collage of crap from all the MMO's already out there but with a diffrent package. HO's from FFXI, New Set bonsus from WoW... the list is insane.

    I was thinking the devs would have it in their best interest to visit this site just cause everything is censored on the regular boards so that they can try to steal ideas from others. I just saved them the trouble of having to use the tiny ass brain they have to improve a game that had potential and is going to fail due to growing lack of interest in a lack luster uninteresting piece of garbage this game is shaping up to be. But eh if nothing else the idea is there, frankly I don't care if they steal any of my ideas or ignore them completly, just so long as the game improves so that the PLAYERS enjoy it. Fuck the devs ideas, cause from the look of EoF its gonna be farm city then a month later we will all be playing the new MMO that comes out whenever.

    Curious when Devs are going to get it through their heads that most of the players are smarter than them and if they want to create challenging content they got to make it fun AND tough. Just making an encounter tough makes it annoying. "Oh joy we get to kill corsolander again! yay for just ranged damage and being bored for 2 minutes while its health ticks away ever so slowly cause half the raid can't hit it." If they want to make raiders happy they gotta make the whole ZONE a challenge otherwise ya get bored half way through and ya never quite recover from that. Been a long time since I was impressed with raiding ... not since T5 anyway and those encounters weren't "super hard" or nothing but they were fun and a challenge at times... especially when the MT gets punted across the zone and ya see a full raid trying to catch up to him before the mob memwipes and goes crazy lol.



    oooo another idea... a completly spherical room with no corners or ledges... the mob randomly punts people to the top of the zone which has its own gravity so you end up standing upside down on the roof and the mob would fly from the roof to the ground in intervals similar to Flapping wing guy but instead you got people dpsing from there.... forget the punting just make it so half the raid ends up on the roof and half on the bottom and in order to beat it ya have to have 2 tanks and the room maybe turned around or some other disorienting thing... i dunno just brainstorming crap

    Yeah but i always wished i could get on that show when i was....7? 8? That show rocked back in the day! lol would be funny if eq2 mobs made ya shoot wiffle balls at your raid members to determin who got deathtouched lol.

    Oh please, I was just trying to give some friendly advice on how to speed up the encounter. Of COURSE we could just range it, hell with our healers we could probably just heal through it.../sigh

    And if you want to call us gimp then go ahead, but this "gimp" guild is the only guild on our server to take out Matron. If we qualify, we're in good company.
