Default Orange mobs and XP

As a former Zerker w/ pimp gear (Adept3's/M1's, jewlry, legendary crafted weapons and armor,) I liked to try for the hardest mobs possible when grouped with equally decked out friends and some strangers.

A lot of the time though, while impressed by the orange^^^ mobs we were taking down, the strangers were not impressed w/ the XP they were getting. I could care less about XP because i had it locked most of the time anyway. (Often tanks have to lvl real slow in order to afford pimp gear so they can be good tanks.)

So my question is this; Are red and orange mobs worth less XP than yellow/white/blue mobs and why is this? Or, is it that we were taking longer to kill orange mobs than a yellow or white mobs, slowing down the pimp slap?

What a jip! Shouldn't it be 'the harder the challange, the more XP you will get'? Call me a crazy pimp-slappin' fool, but can anyone explain this irrational thinking?

They do it because people would do all kinds of mentor gimping tricks, or have their char engage reds, leave combat unlocked, and have a level 80 nuke the crap out of a lowbie mob.

It's not, and before this change I leveled a toon from 1 to 70 in about 12 hours played. It was a good change.

Focus on yellows, they go down faster and hit less hard. You'll not only earn more exp per kill but you'll kill faster so EXP should improve exponentially.
