Default Re: Dev Fist and named mob

I thought about this abit more and what i was doing when DF wouldn't work.

In CoA when it didn't work i was the tank and was using TAB to target the mob directly.
In CoA when it did work i was just dps'n and using an /assist macro.
In Maidens when it did work i was using an /assist macro.
In Maidens when it didn't work I was using TAB or F(#) to target.
Solo in wastes when it didn't work on named I was using TAB to target.

Probably nothing to do with it, but if people start posting how they targetted the mob when it did/didn't work it might help.

Also where you got the spell might have something to do with it.

I have also been on a CoA run where a brawler landed dev fist on at least 5 of the names including the last, while mine failed every attempt. I used mine at the beginning of one fight and got the message "this spell cannot be used against your current target" or some such, and was stifled, with only the small ~200 damage registered. It then applied devastation fist immunity, so the second brawler could not use his fist until the mob was at around 30% health. At that time, it landed and did the full 25% damage for the 2nd brawler.

So same mob, same instance, same run, both 'hit' (as opposed to dodge/parry/blocked) yet one brawler's worked while the other's did not. Yea, it's messed up.

I don't know if that could be the problem. I just know i'm always targeting the mob directly.

I have never tried to /assist but have no clue how it could be it. Use dev fist on regular mob while directly targeting =hit ? Why would a named be different.

I have no more answer than the next monk. I don't post much and just play the game, but I did have some personal experience with the bug and posted my observations.

You are right though it works like a charm on non-named, but try hitting named with it and you get the immune message and we get stifled. I'd personally like to think its a coding bug and not done on purpose by Sony as a means to limit monk farming of named.

I just found it strange the other night that the immune message kicked in on the same mob on the same instance when all I did was switch how i was targetting the mob.

I don't have a monk but I run lots of instances with a good friend monk who tanks and maybe I'm being naive and you guys already know this but here's my two cent's worth anyway.

I asked my friend monk if he could cast d-fist earlier because I was annoyed by the fact that I was saving my two biggish damage spells that stun and daze (thus disabling my coercer's spell/melee triggers) for the end but the mob would die before they go off. He told me it was rare that d-fist landed when the mob was > 50% so needed to cast it late.

I think he also mentioned something about his aa line and using certain combinations of spells to greatly reduce misses but as we were busy in the middle of the instance I didn't pay much attention to it. I can check with him when I'm back home on a PC that can actually play the game if anyone's interested in finding out.

Putting devastation fist inside of an /assist macro seems to have cleared up a the bug. Just had it land on every named in Maidens including Drusila for 160k.

Thats sadly burdensome / a relief at the same time. At least there is a way to make it work.

This doesn't work by the way.

Just an FYI for those who are tempted to try it.
