At the moment the game output isn't informative enough for even making a good guestimate hate calculator. Can you even see who casts a buff on you now?
Even if you can see that the unknowns are:
Every spell/CA's innate hate.
The exact hate of a taunt. (Best you can do is give a min a medium and max result letting the program keep those 3 numbers at all times.)
The exact hate of 1 point healed.
The rate of the hate drop off. (This is most likely a low percentage every second or every tick)
If it's one unique mob or if it's two (or more) with the exact same name.

The reason I suspect this is because unless I am in a group with a tank who really knows what they are doing I will grab agro on mobs just from auto attack sometimes. I can do 1500 dps in a group setting and the Zerk tank can do 2k dps and I will still peel agro from him from time to time despite the fact he is taunting and doing more actual dps than I am. I would like to point out too that I will hold the agro with just auto attack while i lower my dps to let the zerk get the agro back. Sometimes i end up tanking the whole encounter because my hate is so high.

If critical hits do generate more hate than the actual damage they cause it might explain a couple things. I have no hard proof of this other than personal experiance, but I firmly believe that Critical hits cause more hate.
I'm thinking it's just a lot more stuff your not noticing maybe?

Like what about your procs or double attack going off? IIRC you prolly use a slow, hard hitting weap ( least u were on befallen but that was fucking ages ago lmao )

I know on my swash sometimes I'll get lucky ( or unlucky ) and get a shit ton of procs + double attack to all go off on one auto, I literally see like 7+ numbers, if thats happening w/ an inquis, then yea I could see the aggro potential.

I'm not disproving your theory, but auto attack is a tricky thing to parse in normal situations, lots of things to consider.

Unless you just tested with straight auto attack and no other outside factors, in that case ignore this whole post lmao.

Don't forget, just because you parsed 1500 and the tank parsed 2000 for the encounter doesn't mean he was ahead of you the whole time. You might have got a big burst in there somewhere, or the tank might have had a lull, a streak where he missed a few times.

Not to mention you had debuffs going, and maybe some healing too.

What we dont know.
  1. Does threat spells crit
  2. Does deagro crit
  3. Which acts first decreaser or transfer (for them warlocks)
I'm pretty sure that we do know the answer to this. Umm, but for a wizard. Pally has amends on the wizard. Wizzard has deaggro proc. So when the mob mem-wipes, wizzie nukes immediately, and the result is snap aggro to pally. This can be relied on.

This implies that instead of subtracting deaggro from hate and then applying it to the mob, full hate was generated from the nuke, which was then split to the pally. Then the full deaggro was applied to the wizzie.

If it worked the other way, the hate from the nuke would be reduced, then split between the wizzy and the pally, giving the pally at most half. So it probably wouldn't work, at least not reliably.

I know the thread's a little old, but I'd rather ask the question here than start a new thread.

Does distance effect hate? For example (in WoW), if you were more than 20ft from the mob, you had to generate 30% more hate than the person with the highest hate in order to pull agro, but if you were inside that 20ft, you only had to generate 10% more hate. Is that what the transfer/increaser cap is that was referred to earlier in the thread?

No hate transfer and hate increase are types of buffs. (both with a cap at 50%)

Ah ok; that answers that question then. I've only been playing EQ2 for a short time, so I'm still learning.... What about my other question, though? Anyone have an answer by chance?
