Actually, I just remembered I forgot to equip my stun immune ring on a certain mob (the one we pulled directly after the sub boss) last time we were there. I'm going to the other room to find the logfile and see if I can answer any of these questions now!

If the stun takes place before the off hand swing you can't get an answer for certain without an extremely large sample. Besides the fact that I'd wager the double attack has both swings giving the chance to proc the stun (just like a dot), you can't say for sure. You may be able to say you believe but you will not prove it. Ok so you get one swing off on the primary weapon then nothing, did it stop a double attack? You get two swings off on the primary then nothing, did the double attack proc the stun or did the primary?

Statistics suck, all these things can and will happen. That is why you need a 100% chance to take that variable out of the equation.

Actually if you know statistics and know how to do them right, you can get an extremely high degree of confidence in your conclusion without 100% chances.

That doesn't mean your conclusion will be right.

Edit: I also believe I said earlier you would need an extremely large sample size for the statistics to not be skewed.

You have to be able to reach conclusions without having the luxury of 100% certainty, because that's inevitably not a luxury you can always have, and you can get so close to 100% confidence that the probability you're wrong is insignificant, using statistical techniques like t-tests and z-tests.

However, it would be far easier to prove double attack goes off before stun (which I imagine it does).

Statistics actually rock, they allow you to apply leverage a problem and bring us certainty in an uncertain world. While I respect you as a player its obvious to me and everyone else reading this thread that you don't have a firm understanding of statistics and thats the true reason for your apprehension. It's a shame really especially in this game, very few things are spelled out to us by the developers. Often times we have to conduct experiments and perform statistical calculations on the results. A great example would be proc and crit rate scaling against mob level. According to the UI the mob con doesn't matter, but if we look at the number of crits and procs we generate against orange mobs, we can see that it deviates from the expected result in a statistically significant way. We've all known this for a while, long before anyone had 100% crit, thanks to statistics.

Regardless its a moot point anyway,

(1203387015)[Mon Feb 18 18:10:15 2008] Your energy returns to normal.
(1203387016)[Mon Feb 18 18:10:16 2008] YOUR Sidestab critically hits a palace sentry for 2125 slashing damage.
So it looks like in this case the melee double attack mechanic differs from the spell mechanic in that, in the melee world, the double attack is considered the same attack round regardless of whether control effects land during any point of the combat. Based on what others have said it sounds like the spell double mechanic is such that if you are stunned on the first spell, you get an interrupt message on the double attack "cast". This looks like something that should be corrected.
