Default Caster VS Scout DPS

Well, I think most of us can agree that Melee hit rates needed to be fixed. As with most problems ingame, they've decided to nerf everyone else to fix the problem.

Personally I find the DPS off my caster to be horrible compared to most well played scouts. This of course is in area's where both of us can hit the mob equally. (I do realize I play a Warlock, and I should have a bit lower single target damage.)

Overall, it seems like casters just can't keep up on the parse anymore. If we really-really REALLY push ourselves we can compete. But frequently it seems like scouts with much worse gear and fewer upgraded CA's can pass us quite easily.

So my questions are:

- How do you find your casters DPS these days? If your on an even playing field with a scout, are you keeping up? (Even meaning everyone is hitting the mob, and has roughly the same resists)

- Is there actually a pay-off for playing a toon wearing cloth these days over chain? (As it relates to damage output.)

- How is your guild for cloth? Do you find you have plenty of Sorcerers, Summoners, Enchanters? Or are you absolutely scout heavy?

My intent with this thread is not to start a parse-circle-jerk. More to guage how people feel they are stacking up with the other folks who's primary job is to provide damage output.

In the past as far as I'm concerned, I would have had no problem dominating any parse with 3 or more mobs. These days, I find I'll be in the lead until two of the mobs die, then the scouts will fly past me on the final mob.

As far as my surroundings are concerned, it seems like fewer and fewer people are going cloth.

Thoughts?

Edit: Fixed spelling because I'm a tool

my thoughts are:
keep cloth vs chain out of it....to many parameters involved besides what you wear.

That's why I'm not looking for hard numbers. Just an educated opinion based on observations.

Please don't think this is a "HAY GUYS, WHAT TOON SHOULD I PLAY" thread, because it's not.

Are you actually serious with these statements?

Did you read them? Also, I'm asking people like you knowing that YOU have seen further into the game then me.

I'm not fit to answer these questions myself, because I haven't progressed as far in.

Caster DPS is hardly lacking. If you can't keep up and/or surpass equally geared scouts then you need to seriously reevaluate what you're doing.

My DPS is typically pretty high, but what raises the question for me at least is the fact it seems like there are fewer cloth rolling around these days.

Shit, it could be the server i"m on .. It could be the guild I'm in. I don't really have a way of knowing unless I ask right?

I'm comfortable with my casting order, and how I've upgraded my toon with what's available to me. That much I'm not worried about.

It really could just be my enviroment and the specific people I play with. But I do watch my parser constantly on a second monitor.

Edit: And beyond that I guess, I'm wondering how it stacks up in the higher raidzones. We're just breaking into T2 stuff right now, so hearing all this business about increased resists to spell damage have me wondering just how big of a gap there is pre-LU.

To answer your question unlike all these other people, I know first hand that when a good well geared scout takes on a mage of the same or slightly better gear it depends on what level mob your fighting.

For example In t1-3 on my scout I find I can push my damage well past a mage if I put forth enough effort, and thats because the majority of mobs in t1-3 are yellow con, regardless of what anyone else says anything orange to a scout in rok is fucking ridiculously hard to hit compared to a mage.

Now I'm not saying that scouts are useless in vp but I am saying its harder for us to keep up with mages in there but it can be done and I've proved it.

There is no point to this thread until the latest change goes live. Once that happens, THEN we can discuss caster vs. scout dps. But until then, it's going to be different from what it is now compared to what is about to change.
