Yeah, I've pretty much given up hope of this ending well.

When these test notes hit, if they hit and if the are complete, this right here sums up everything I'm going to feel clicking on the link:

I really do think they can and will implement these kinds of changes at the drop of a hat. Maybe this is why nothing has really been changed or fixed effectively since release of RoK.

The comments about changes to how combat logs are recorded are just fuel to the fire they are building. Again.

They really need to hire someone that knows how to spin and PR better than the people they have now and can laison with the dev's directly.

Hmm... before SoE's relations with us went... away... Aerilik actually sent me a PM about some of the logging changes.

They're just adding in more info as far as I can tell, which means that the "new info" no longer looks like the old info. More specifically, when the change goes in, things like double attacks won't be parsed by old parsers. I wouldn't call that devastating though...

I could release a new version of ACT that handles what I know about the log changes right now... I just didn't know there was a reason to. And it doesn't really do much with the new data aside from record it. I need to decide how to display statistics on the new data.

oh really great so we wont be able to catch someones real dps fora while ?

what the fuck is the point of logs being changed ?

FIX the goddamn real flaws we expirience atm liike this insane lag bs in VP and the goddamn bloody hitrates on high con mobs plus revamp some of the epics and addd loot thats worth it to to do VP
Id really like to know whats the fucking problem to fix melee dps
increase themobs hp goddamnit but make this game fun again for melees

or FFS reduce mob level for Trash and adds to 85 and leave named as they are

ACT will be vital to data mining these new game mechanics alterations. I too am worried they will attempt to mask information by altering combat logs.

Do you need to funding to work on ACT changes after this? Should we start a ACT charity drive?

I believe they are altering the logging format to help us, not mask things that they are changing. I think it all started with wizards wanting to be able to track double-cast, and perhaps assassins tracking flurry. To that end, both of those things are being added to the combat logs... except in a format that won't be parsed by current parsers. No big deal to me. I'd rather have more complicated logs than ones I have to do "guess work" to get data out of.

I test copied a character(I hope) and as soon as I see that the logs are what I already programmed for, I'll release the new version of ACT.

Don't freak out.
