Re: EQ2.ca Tracks your DPS Online
Well Aditu I see you found the time. I have to agree with you on being a quick study. I'm not a vetran web host but dynamic sites is something I wanted to do easier than I have been. Believe me when I say it's both a good feeling and a bad feeling when I see log entires like this:
Users logging in through sshd:
celevest:
67.31.61.710 (user-1020fbe.dsl.mindspring.com): 2 times
scoundril:
66.55.253.227 (h229.253.55.66.ip.alltel.net): 1 time
ioerror:
021.224.104.5: 2 times
sshd:
Authentication Failures:
dantx (54.3.63.241.ptr.us.xo.net): 1 Time(s)
tandem (14.3.93.241.ptr.us.xo.net): 1 Time(s)
The bottome line being is that things are working. They don't have to be pretty to work. Your code works fine. Could it be improved yes. I seem to be hosting peoples websites fine - could I improve yes. All of the above requires feedback and I'm thankful for your code it inspired me to host multiple simultaneous connections though ACT. I haven't yet made it to the part where I pull out the editor and wade though your code. Soon though.

SCP doesn't work But SFTP does, anyway I'm just stealing all the code and going from there to make my own more private version.

Re: EQ2.ca Tracks your DPS Online
It is yet unauthored work so I guess in that respect you can steal it and attach your name to it should you want to. I think steal is the wrong word though for what you intend. The previous would be the definition of stealing.
What you actually want to do is just modify it how you want it privately and use it for your own purpose. I don't call that stealing. Greedy perhaps but I'm sure once your done working with it you might decide to share but nothing at this point is obligating you to.
Which could be all changed if the author's would make a decision on some rudamentary license to ensure the advancement of the code and a simple changelog. If it were mine I would GPL it. I have an agreement for the code from the last author that revised it last to use it.
His condition to me was who what where and please link back. I'm also to notify him of any changes or advancements made to the code that he didn't think anyone would be interested in. I somehow feel that I've lost that ability. He actively develops the code himself so he may release another version soon enough but you would have to ask scott.bachmeier@gmail.com

Re: EQ2.ca Tracks your DPS Online
I registered under dantx but my password didn't work for SSH and I never recieved a connection string in my email.
I also tried using the IP for SSH using my login/password in a mysql client but that didn't work either.
Because really, I could care less about the webspace, I just wanted to try out the free database storage, so all I wanted was the connection string.

The password will be sent to you in the email, the password you choose doesn't get set, it randomly generates one and emails you it. You have to connect to the IP via port 69 to connect to it, raw scp does not work, only sftp.
Oh, by "steal" I mean, use elsewhere, don't plan on really doing much modifications to it, the ACT display scripts is all I really want, since it looks pretty well done. Now I just need to get the ODBC stuff setup so I can use it.

Re: EQ2.ca Tracks your DPS Online
Off topic but still applicable. The basic theory and design of the eq2.ca portal was a direct influence on the concept of a two minute website. The two domains are going to acquire users - the question is how many and how quickly...
A real website in under 2 mins.
YourSite.ioio.ca
A real website in under 2 mins.
YourSite.Oil-Gas.ca
