My deity is The Tribunal, and after logging in today I noticed the following buff:

Blessing of The Tribunal
Increases Health and Power by 100.
Increases mitigation vs divine damage by 200.

Lasted for around 4 hours. Where did I get that from? I searched for that buff but didn't find any information.

Ah, that's the one in Everfrost, right? I saw that guy yesterday. But why do I get such a useless buff from him?

All of the avatars will give you a minor, temporary, buff if you get close to the one you follow. If you follow mithaniel marr, and get close to him in commonlands, he buffs you (provided you have enough faction I think) same with tunare, brell, any of them.

no i think it was more designed for people who aren't going to kill the avatars.

as soon as you engage your own in combat, it stuns you for 6-10 seconds and you lose all miracles, blessings, and buffs that you get from them.
therefore, it's wisest to renounce before you try to pull the avatar of the deity that you follow.

it's just sort of a nifty little thing they do. /shrug
