Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
I'm only lacking 5 Masters to be finished, all of them 71-74. I'll admit i've spent in the area of 800 plat or so to get where i am, some dropped on raids and a few lucky drops in instances. There is only 1 reason for plat to be honest and that is to buy your masters.. If you choose not to spend it then just exaclty what do you hope to purchase with it? If you are saving up to buy your Mythical, then IMHO opinion you don't really need the masters anyway since your not raiding much and the mobs you are raiding don't resist anywhere near what the mobs in VP do. I would gladly pay 100 Plat each for any of the masters i'm missing. The Majority of folks that bitch moan and complain about Master drops rates and prices are not the ones raiding from what I have seen. It is those individuals that want to farm them to sell them to horde plat for whatever reason.
Don't have Cash to buy them? go farm something and sell it, get in a T1/2 raid that drops plats more often.. there is no reason to running around with 20 plat to your name unless you just bought your masters, in which case money well spent.. now go earn some more and be ready when that illusive master does become available. Fabled chest = rare drop, masters are the top tier of spells, if they were easy to get then they wouldn't be special.
Gwanath, I agree with you on the point that sometimes they are just not available no matter how much cash you have or how much you farm places like KC for them, this blows for sure since I would love to be mastered out, but until the 71-74 stuff becomes more prevalant i think most of us are in the same boat.

Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
I have no problem buying masters from the broker. I don't even want to think about how much I have spent this expansion. However, there is a problem with drop rates when you are on the most highly populated server and 4 of the master you still need have not even been disco'd this far into the expansion.

Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
that has nothing to do with the drop rate, it has to do with how many wizards play.

Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
71-75 masters need to be added to the instance loot tables or a lower level instance needs to be added. Those are the ones people just can't get.

Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
I really like the idea of buying masters from status merchants, you could even make them purchaseable by guild level, 71-80 masters = guild level 80 only...at least then you have something to work towards. Fucking doing shitty ass instances in hopes you get one master to drop is so draining after a while. I personally am missing 3 masters, they are all 71-74.

Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
Has it come to the point where everybody deserves every master?
I mean, aren't masters supposed to be rare, and something to try to work towards? I mean, c'mon now, not everybody should have the best of everything. Why not just make it so instead of dropping items, raid mobs drop a quest item which gives you the choice of an item. I mean, that's what it looks like people want. I am against that. I want something to work towards.
Unless they add Master 3s into the game, there is no reason for Masters to be purchasable.

They should and each contested and Byzola and Trak should drop an item each time it's killed that you could turn in to redeem one of your choice.
A simple change like that would do a lot for progression.

If they let you choose what you wanted, everyone would take the same rewards like they do now, and still complain about the ones they don't have.

It doesn't make sense that illusionists have few to none rare masters level 35-60, while defilers, rogues, et al. have critical ones. Why should a level 80 swash have to mentor and farm solo mobs for an upgrade?
From a game design sense it is very poorly done. It's not that everyone deserves masters, but there needs to be a reliable alternative. I think a guild level requirement and steep status and price cost would be a good choice.

Re: A (Short) Rant on Master Drop Rates
Oh, I think the ones that are out of tier should get upgrades, that aren't really upgrades. But I'm talking about the 71-80 masters. Oh and Illusionists have Savante and Spellshield, neither gets an upgrade from beyond DoF :P They really should have Savante2 someplace in 71-80 that does the EXACT same thing as the original Savante, except it drops off 71-80 mobs, either that or add them to the loot table as masters that drop someplace in the CURRENT tier, rather than older tier.
But those are the oddities, I'm talking about normal abilities that have upgrades in the 71-80 range, the ones that are 70 and below definitely need to have upgrade paths established in the current tier.
