Okay, so there are around 6-7 Dispersion & Displacement items (VP robe, VP ring, faction shoulders, KC forearms, Nathsar Sash, quested earring...) with two of them absorbing 2 attacks and the rest absorbing 1 attack on a successful proc (10%) plus a 200-500 groupwide manaproc everytime an attack gets absorbed.
Now add some proc increasers, put Dirge and Templar stoneskin on, adorn some of the 3% parry and 3% riposte stuff, give 'em an avoidance check and mages will probably have a greater survivability than any given tank in RoK. Plus with all that Dispersion / Displacement gear, your group's mana shouldn't drop below 95% I think, which shouldn't be too hard anyway with all those new procs.
Well, now that they got all the defensive stuff, how will they handle aggro you may ask. Here is the solution:
Next problem solved. And with the current melee vs caster hitrates, I think mages will be pretty decent tanks.
What does this thread want to show us? The Dispersion & Displacement gear is completely overpowered and should be changed to something more appropriate for mages, because they are NOT supposed to be tanks.
Something like "decreases threat priority to target by 1" when being hit would come to my mind.
