Who is the better Off Tank?

All things being equal; skill gear and availabilty who would you use as a secondary tank in VP or for that matter any T8 zone really.

MT Guardian OT Paladin
MT Guardian OT Guardian

Reason I'm asking is my guild is leaning towards the 2 x Guardian which will mean I'm gonna be looking at a lot of reserve time and only being brought in for mobs such as the Overking and Leviathon.

Naturarally I lean towards the Guardian+Paladin method... but I understand my oppinon may be warped somewhat me being a Paladin so I am putting it out here to canvas a wider opinion.

Thoughts?

For offtanking and switch tanking like phara dar sure a guard can be better, although it is not needed and a pally does almost as good.

But for fights where swarm adds need control it is ALOT harder for a guard to hold 4-8 adds. Imho pally is a better all purpose offtank.

All things equal, I would probably go for the Paladin. Though if you are only doing instanced content, the scales tip a bit in favor of the Guard due to the fact that there is really nowhere the Paladin's superiority of hate control shines. I'm not sure you even need a fighter offtank for anything but Phara Dar? And you certainly don't need a Guardian's survivability edge to offtank gimp x2 or heroic adds.

So use whatever you want. Certainly, recruiting a 2nd guard (if that's what you're implying) won't help you kill anything that you can't currently kill, unless you (the paladin!) suck.

Zerker=MT, grd=OT seems to work REALLY well for my little guild excursions, but to each his own i always say

You have that backwards, imo. Zerker=OT, Guardian=MT.

If Guardian not online, Zerker=MT, Paladin=OT.

Problem solved! There is no mob in-game that a Zerker cannot tank if they don't suck.

You can, and it is possible! 2nd kill was with a Zerker tank, and had no issues once he figured out positioning.
