Im sure it has been discused before but can anyone give me the low down on which is prefered and why? mystic vs defiler in the main tank group. thanks

There isnt alot diffrence between those two classes nowdays.
I guess the only big diffrence is the Stuncure that Defilers has on the group..and that it can be used while under a stun too.
Mystics dont have that.
And also abit of HP buffs that might be slightly higher from the Defiler.

BUt id say the cure is the main reason.

mystics dont have the 90%-HP emergency-ward (ever combined that with bloodletter? :P)

Doesnt make a difference, since Soul Ward and Deathward both can be cast out of group onto Raid Friend.

iirc I think defilers get better HP buffs at end game, so that could be part of the reason why, also before rok defilers used to have better power management too, i say that because rok kinda makes power management a joke lol.

true that, but means you still have to have a defiler in your raid at least ;)

A mystic in the OT group is better than a defiler in the OT group, thus a Mystic gets placed there, while a Defiler is slightly better than a mystic in the MT group, so the Defiler goes there! Both can do either, but based on how their spells work, that's just the reason why Defiler = MT, Mystic = OT. Until Tendrils is raid-castable, Defiler will be in the MT group 99% of the time.

imo the defiler is the mt shaman for several reason.

1. ancestors is needed there more than anywhere else.
2. soul ward- yes thats a raid wide ability but helps when u have other healers in ur grp to help u regain your health without having to stop ward casting.
3. hp buffs are slightly higher and high end raiding every little bit helps.
4. power regen- canabalize is a serious ability...helps more than some realize seeing how u dont need as much attention on the low power scale.

now i'm sure there's arguments about my basis but like i said it my opinion

Well ya....but the topic of this thread is Defiler in the MT GROUP. Yes Defilers should be in the MT gorup, because of the slight edge in buffs. However your reasoning that they should be there cuz of the 90% emergency ward, is off base.
