Default Spell damage bug

Had a quick look on the boards to see if there was already a thread about this - couldn't see one, which is surprising.

Mages spells values have for a while, randomly dropped for apparently no reason. This is the value displayed when you mouse-over the spell icon. Originally it was our conj and necro who were noticing this (a couple of months ago), so I assumed it was a bug with the summoners. But now seen it with illusionist and warlock as well. So appears to be everyone. Last night in VP, one of our illu's beam was showing a top end of about 900 damage @ M2 lol.

I haven't noticed it happening to me, but if at some point I'm doing surprisingly shitty dps I will have a quick check.

Anyone have any info about this bug? Relogging or equip/unequip stuff doesn't seem to fix it.

crusader buffs do not affect +spell and +heal numbers... dunno if that helps

Err.. well it's like ALL of the +spell dmg is removed randomly. It's nothing to do with crusaders - seen it happen with and without them in raid.

Check my post in the official forums here:

Bug with proc effects that add +spell damage -- Resetting +spell damage to 0

There was also a post by Alexiiya from around November 2007, with very few (if any) replies, and neither of us got an official reply of course.

I've mailed Aeralik, and even Lyndro -- not surprisingly, I got diddly squat back from both of them.

/shrug

I'm tired of getting fucked as a mage in this game.

Yes, this happens to my Fury in like one out of twenty spells. My DoT initially hits for around 900 usually, and sometimes the initial tick only hits for ~400. This is while being solo. Didn't pay too much attention while grouping, but I'm sure it also occurs while being heroic.

I already mentioned that earlier in the official forums and also sent a PM at Aeralik, but didn't get a response. I'm really surprised they didn't fix that one yet. And I'm also surprised this thread doesn't have more replies yet.

Reading the post on the official forums, it was stated that this is affected by the procs on Vine Wrapped boots, Robe of Ancient Terrors, and Wizard Epic. Well i've been lvling up my illusionist and the only piece of proc he has that affects dmg at all is the Wand of Crystallized Plasma, yet i've seen this bug hit me too. So I think the bug is more wide spread then originally thought since the WoCP affects base damage and not +spell dmg.

Fyreflyte would be the better dev to draw attention to this, as this is an effect of an item, and he designed many of the items you are talking about. He's also a lot more responsive than most.

Since Daervon sent me a tell about a week ago asking if I'd heard or figured out anymore on this I decided to finally take it as an excuse to get rid of the VWB and it still happens without them. I do have Dark Orb & didn't try taking it off, but suppose i could test that also. It seems like it's gone through various phases of severity. Most of the time it will just effect your next cast then go back 2 normal, but occasionally it sticks around for a duration of half a dozen casts or so.

i play a troubadour. i've had my spells bug out and lock in to very low values in the examine window. so, whatever the issue is, it's not limited to mages.
