Default Re: Guardians and aviodance

The Divine Aura is not for avoidance, but for intercede and when I use recapture at low health ( the point of Tsunami vs. DA was that both make the fighter immune to damage ). That, coupled with the insane block chance Paladin's get, is why I prefer a Paladin over a monk.

Non-debuffed mobs are the only thing I worry about anyways, and the monk is far surprassed by the Paladin in those situations.

Once the mob is debuffed, another fighter's avoidance buff is not making a difference to the outcome of the fight, at least for us.

It is the spike damage at the beginning of the fight I want the buff for, not for the gimped attacks once it is debuffed.

Considering the mob should be pretty well debuffed in the 1st 12 seconds, Tsunami on pull (54% chance of 100% avoidance) should be better than using a pally.

Fair enough, spike dmg prior to debuff is something to minimise, but if you guild has no problem with encounters after the first 10 seconds (after debuffing) you should be doing rather better than you are. Spike dmg (double attacks) occur throughout fights, not just prior to debuffing.

100% parry isn't the same as 100% avoidance; especially against undebuffed high con orange mobs.

Pretty much in the same way 10s Damage imunity from DA isn't the same as 10s REAL damage immunity

Fair enough, but it still provides a heck of a lot of avoidance - more than a paladin can provide.

Also, a key point is that the avoidance chance buff has a range of 20m. In many encounters the OT & MT are going to be lot further away, so it's wasted. A monk can ensure they stick within 20m of whoever they have the buff on.

Its pretty much a choice between:

100% avoidance (from monk) - a very small portion of that uncontested

... or 75% avoidance from pally - around half of that uncontested

So they arn't as far apart as you might think.

i think the avoidance from def / parry skill and agi doesn't work well when target is avatar.

Stop thinking! Open ACT, right click the tank, get avoidance report. Do a simple comparison, and now you have real data facts. No guessing, no trusting the % numbers listed on a spell and/or persona screen.

Really? Cause I'm pretty sure that's the way the warrior agility5 ability is worded, and it truely is 100% avoidance vs any mob. And the %parry adornments, etc, are also uncontested.

Either way, if you do the comparison, you'll see monk wins. If the first 10s is that much of a problem, tsunami>paly block.

Tsunami is good, but bad for other time. Monk only got 16% uncontested avoidance from defense stanse(Master I).

I tanked Avatar of Storm last night, and I avoid attacks from Storm most from block (26 blocks, 3 miss, 4 parry, 3 riposte in 10mins). I use the shield from vp only and no add block gear on me. The 4 parry, 3 riposte should be from adornments. So i don't think avoidance from skill work well on avatar.
