Upcoming Summoner Changes
(LU 31)
We've been working on pet behavior! Pets will attack more reliably on stairs, and caster pets have learned to stand back and cast instead of running into melee range. Plus, adjusting the behavior of your pet will now properly persist though zoning.
What are your thoughts.
Personally I love it. It might actually make me do the right ammount of damage vs my pet and stop taking time away from casting , keeping up with 3 AE timers and this bullshit 10 second lag from level decreasers/ Massive charm ae's where you have no fucking clue where your pet is at all.
Some are saying its making the summoner "easy " but idk. Wizards pritty much regin power and combo nukes for lots of damage. Which is in no way easy but might be as even with conjurors after the update with the lack of having to keep up with a melee happy pet.
And finally no more running up and down stairs spaming send pet in or your tank runs into a corner that is elevated on the edge by like 1 inch and you have to actually run into the corner with stoneskin up to send your pet in.
<3 the fixes

100% couldn't have said it better, and you forgot to mention that every mob and his mother have 1-2 damage sheilds, so when your Mage pet runs up there, it starts killing itself. NOT to mention the extremely long range AOE's that you simply cannot joust with the Mage pet effectively, and only have two pet saves against melee (only one of which works vs magical aoe's).

100% agree here too. Buncha whiners. I bet as soon as they see the bump in DPS we won't hear a peep out of them. How hard is it for a Wizard and Warlock to stand still and nuke. I bet you don't see them running in to melee everytime Ice Nova, Fusion or Apoclypse is down now do ya? Our Mage pet finally learns it's fucking place and stays PUT!

Love this too, especially when I'm being a dork and wondering why the hell I can't send in my pet while fighting on stairs and I realize I'm targeting the stupid pet (which has no target) and telling it to attack. Stupid stairs...

As posted in the thread at eq2players:
I support this change completely.
I stand back and nuke to do my dps, Sorcerors and Enchanters stand back to do their damage. My *Mage* pet should act like a Mage and know it's place in the world and stay back nuking!!!

Re: Upcoming Summoner Changes
Meh, it just takes the jousting out, which was second nature to any halfway decent summoners anyway. What you should worry about is our ability to root nuke now.

Re: Upcoming Summoner Changes
It does take out jousting which really isn't difficult by any means, just more of a hassle than anything else. The part that make me most happy is the ability to send in a pet while the MT has the mob on the stairs and I am down a little...
No more running up and then running back to nuke...this is a great fix.

I don't want to hear it. Wizards can easily out damage Summoners on shorter fights. On the longer named fights we can go full out dps and not have to worry about peeling aggro, where as Wizards and Warlocks have insane aggro issues and have a very tight line they can walk as far as dps goes. That's a problem with your damn class not ours.
Honestly people, the Mage pet only runs in when it is out of spells to cast, we have to call them back, give it a few seconds for it's spells to start refreshing and re-engage it. The only difference this change makes is that the Mage pet is now less likely to be tagged by an AOE (which I remind you EoF mobs have multiple AoE's now and we're not given the tools to protect our pets for more than a couple AoE's without dumping 21 points into Bubble for Conj's and then having to predict when AoE's are going to land with ACT's timer being borked to hell and back).
You Wizards and Warlocks can stand back out of AoE range and do your damage, I can as well, now my pet which is part of my dps can also. Cry me a river. The MAGE pet running in to MELEE when it is waiting on spells to refresh is a bug, always has been (possess the pet and check out it's auto-attack command on its hotbars).
All I know is that when I joust my Mage pet, I end up in the top 5 on the dps parse. When randomly timed AoE's hit and I didn't have any pet saves up or AoE's with ungodly range hit and kill my pet, I drop down the ladder very quickly and spend more time away from dps'ing to recast and rebuff the pet. People will scream about utility, but if you play a Conjuror you know how little we give lmao compared to real utility classes (Enchanter / Bard).
Leave my class alone, friggen Wizards always trying to get others nerfed

Lol if you don't think you are overpowered at least SLIGHTLY its because you are a bad summoner.

Re: Upcoming Summoner Changes
Yeah, I think how sad we look on short fights makes up for a lot of it. Before our pet can even get a spell cast and before we have 2 dots on the mob, *THUNK*, it's dead.
So when you plow through MOA4, ToS, or other short fight heavy zones, the summoners rarely even make the parse because the kills are so quick.

Re: Upcoming Summoner Changes
I retract my statement. I decided that other classes are just too fucked up that make summoners look so good.

Re: Upcoming Summoner Changes
Pay attention to burn fights against group encounters. At a certain point, summoner dps just goes up up up up and awaaaay and there's no snowball chance in hell of closing the gap. I laugh in sadness at how irrelevant warlocks are.
I used to be competitive on the 3 Princes parse back when it was more controlled and before it became commonplace to just blindly AETHEFUCKINGBEJEEZUS out of it.
