If u want to 2 box i suggest dirge ranger. I box those and love it, nothing like watching the mob hit the ground dead before it gets to you

Re: Soloing with a Bard
Well I have a Illusionist/Troub box...it's pretty good. Though things can get hairy if you're getting a beat down. So far they are both level 41. So I can't say how good this duo will be in the upper levels.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
I've been playing since launch and I created a troubador maybe 6 months ago. He is mid 50s now. Compared to my other characters he is much harder to solo with, especially at lower levels. It got easier as I got to know the class better and I tried out different strategies, but I agree that there is a much bigger learning curve for the class than others. It will be especially harder to solo with if he doesn't have at least mastercrafted gear during his leveling. Bards are really a bad choice if you don't want to group.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
I have a Troubadour I mostly solo with in the high 50s as well. Soloing with bards, Heroic opportunities are HUGE. If you don't use them every time they're available, you're going to have a hard time.
Once you get used to timing your CAs and HOs, it's not terrible, but it's still difficult. As stated before, I'd suggest one of the rogues.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
I'm not sure why one would choose a utility class if soloing is preferred. If it's a real challenge you're looking for, then roll a troubadour .... but just be aware that's it's slow going. I really enjoy soloing as a trouby because I get to be creative, but in the lower levels it gets frustrating and in the higher levels even more frustrating if you don't have the appropriate gear.
But, I'm not one to discourage anyone from playing a trouby, I love the class.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
It was much easier to solo as a bard with the old STA line. I'm glad I capped before they changed it.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
I have seen comments that soloing as a troub is hard or painful. Maybe if your in treasured gear or old master crafted gear and adept 1 spells. Made my troub a jeweler and kept him with adept 3 spells and the most current master crafted gear.
From level 1 to 68 was very easy, 68 to 72 was a bit harder because they hit so hard in rok but that got easier with the level 72 master crafted gear as well and gets better as you pick up legendary gear thru questing and instances.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
I have an 80 Troub, and I soloed with her almost exclusively from levels 1-50 and then from 70-80.
IMO, if you want to solo well with a troub you just need to pay attention to all the details of your class. Know your buffs, debuffs, spells and combat arts.
Even though STR/INT/AGI is important don't ignore the importance of STA. And like most classes if you make the most of all the ways to improve your performance it will help you a lot (get Adept 3 or better, get the best gear you can, use potions, use charms, use good food, use good arrows, use adornments, etc.)
I 2box with her all the time. When she is with my Defiler, I just toss up a ward and play my troub, and she hardly ever takes damage. With other classes, like SK and Warlock, my troub just follows along like a buff bot tossing up Jcap and PotM as much as possible.
If you are duoing I think Troubs go really well with Pally and SK, Furies, and Swash or Brigand, and any mage class.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
I have my jeweler make all Adept III for my troub and I get the latest MC gear. It isn't impossible to solo with a troub with this set up, but it isn't nearly as easy as it is with other classes. It's a fun class to play and I would recommend it to experienced players, but as a first character? Not really a good idea.

Re: Soloing with a Bard
Troubs can be painful to solo, but when you get into a group it's awesome fun to see the boost you give with your buffs.
But yeah, like others have said, if you want a solo class, dont pick bard, if you really want a bard, go for the dirge.
