Re: Rangers parsing abilities.
the beef i have with people parsing their dps, is that it is all relevant to the raids dps..
if i say i parsed 500 dps, you would laugh and throw socks at me, but if i said the raid only did 1500 dps, you would throw socks at my raid and bow before me with offerings of grapes and potatoes,
my average zonewide parse is about 1100 dps, with the raid parse usually floating around 10-11k dps which gives me roughly 10-12% raid damage..
this was before i got my ASWB and i still dont have t8 arrows (damn you drop rate), albeit i do have lots of masters ( missing archer's, culling, stream, and amazing)..
i've capped out on a single fight at about 2600 dps on a group mob with crits on RoA and selection, and on a single mob at roughly 2k, but the circumstances always have many factors, so to just say you can parse 1-1.2k could be misleading =-)

Re: Rangers parsing abilities.
thats my average dps no matter what my raids dps looks like... if the tank can keep aggro then im good... sure it might fluctuate a little bit...
we started a raid on labs and we start clearing trash with like x2 (with people that get there early) and add people when they log in to the actual time to raid which is when we start names... and i get there and was 1 person above x2 in my own little group with self buffs only... and when my killing instinct was up and rain was up i can pull 1k tops... but when im in a full raid with the stats i said before i have seen 1500 but average 1.1 - 1.2k sometimes killing instinct isnt up or we pull to fast and rain isnt back up etc...
but i dont fluctuate much

Coming from someone not even on our server, your funnier.
I can assure you, Skaer isn't adding 500 to anything. Hard to swallow i know, but he can and does do that kind of DPS. I've seen it with my own ACT running..

Quit being fucking ignorant and posting about a subject you know nothing about. There's a 30 something page thread about this on the Ranger forums on eq2players, it's discussed far too much. Ranger's playing ability and availability of a good bow, plays a lot into a Ranger's parsing ability. In my opinion any assassin that isn't dropping 2k in every fight is pretty much a newb.
So, if you want to discuss parsing abilities, why not ask assassins why they don't parse 2k DPS on every encounter?

is that dps or extdps on your act?

in the 75% of player, that includes masters they own
one ranger's opinion... i always do well on our parses *shrug*

I have to disagree with this. Before I got the Sarnac bow my top end DPS I could pull on single target raid mobs lasting two minutes or longer was in the mid 1500's. After getting the Sarnac bow my average is now in the 1700-2000 range depending on crits. IMO gear makes up 15-20% of what a ranger can do if not more.

Re: Rangers parsing abilities.
if those averages are correct and you just upgraded your bow not the ammo or skills or other gear then the previous stated 4% = dps added by bow is wrong.. that math works out to something like 15-25% for your bow
i would say thats kinda fair for the bow to be worth that much dps BUT i dont think its fair that you have to have that to attain that dps when other classes can do it easier..
we get 1-2 bows that can do that dps ( sarnak and matron bow ) while assassins get more of an option in their dual weilds..

Re: Rangers parsing abilities.
It's fairly accurate. I don't hit those all the time and don't get zone averages that high but I hit them on a semi consistent rate. Usually comes down do if I get lucky and have a coercer in group for the DPS buff.
As far as the difference in equipment the bow I used previously was the Recurved bow from the Eyeball Cube mob. That bow was pretty damm consistent in it's damage output. Normal hits almost always in the low 2K range and it had an uncanny crit hit damage of 4,666. I swear it seemed to crit for that same amount 80% of the time. The Sarnac bow has a much bigger variance and hits from 2K up to 5K on normal hits and Crits from 4.5K to as high as 8.5K. Crits usually average in the 6-6.5K but the bow seems to have alot bigger variance then the Recurved.
The RNG is king with this bow. Have a fight where it's nice to you and you get lots of crits you get awesome DPS. Do a fight where it's mean and you have a low amount of crits and your DPS is just blah. Getting a bunch of auto attack crits for 6-8K vs a run of non crits for only 3-4K adds up fast.

Re: Rangers parsing abilities.
This astounds me. It may be because I don't own any T7 fabled bows yet (currnetly have Bow of Flapping Wind which is a slight upgrade to Grzz imo) but I can't parse anywhere near that 1.5k+ range. I have all masters, minus Triple Volley and Amazing Shot, and all my gear is fabled (expect for that damned Adjuntant's Belt and Feet of Sycrachis I still wear) and I can't do anything near those numbers. Since my wife is the guild/raid leader I can influence her to change around the groups to better suit my dps. With all these factors involved, I still can't parse what everyone else is listing. I don't forsee any fabled bows in my future, sans the Wurmslayer short bow, because we left an asshat excuse for a high end guild *cough Nox Arma cough* to start a friendlier high end guild and it'll be a while to train all our players to take out entire zones.
Can anyone throw me a bone and tell me what the hell I need to do to increase my DPS? Just an FYI I do know how to play my class well (have a high hit ranged of 19.055 atm).

The popular response will be.. betray to assassin. Since I am an assassin on nektulos I recommend you avoid doing this. We don't need anymore!!
You need to use all your CAs, including melee, max str, get fabled bow w/ T8 ammo, max dps, max haste, figure out auto-attack timing between CAs, use the proper CAs in the right order and time, max INT (poison), and use GM caustic poison all the time. Also make sure your AAs are in agi & int for crits.
Edit - you also need group buffs besides haste & dps. I like dirge buffs, troub buffs, ember seed, phoenix blade, healer buffs, VIM, int buffs.
