Default Re: Tank balance are we there?

There is still quite a bit of gear for all non-raiding tanks. The x2 zones that can be done during a weekend fun raid for casual guilds has some real nice gear that will definetely help with dps/aggro and survivability. Even the plain shard gear is much better than in previous expansions.

Now if you rarely do shard runs and don't want to raid WOE on a weekend or something then IMO you don't put enough time and effort to be complaining.

Overall, each class feels something needs to be changed, but we all have different things we can do and I feel each tank class has enough tools to be effective and there is gear available for casuals that allow you to be even more effective.

nah man it's not that i feel something needs to be changed, it's that guards need to dominate single targets and that DA or a dmg boost is a way to that. it's unbalanced when a tank class can hold one mob as well as 8 mobs.
if that's the case just give guards/bruisers/monks wicked AE dmg and call it a day

ps. yea things are ok for some but that don't mean things are right with all.

See I don't really see the split between single-target and AOE tanks in the game as it is right now, I think thats an artificial thing created by the last attempt at tank rebalance. It is impossible to use that vision accurately because AE abilities will always work just as well on single target.

I see tank balance breaking down into survivability/dps/aggro control. And perhaps you disagree, but I see nothing wrong with with guards having high survivability and low aggro control. Just like how zerkers should have high dps and low survivability, and paladins should have high aggro and low dps. Ideally SKs should fit in the middle of all three and not be the best at not but also not the worst. The only reason they seem OP right now is because the other plate tanks aren't specialized enough.

More personal DPS is not a solution to tank aggro management, nor should it ever be if you want to balance properly.

Tanks are more balanced than they ever have been. Why some Guards feel it worse now than they were before is because SOE finally added some AE encounters into instances...something that all of RoK lacked and why Guards were easily the tank of choice. The other 3 all can handle multi-mobs better but Guards can still handle singles the best and still can take the most punishment because of all the survivability tools they have that are pretty fast recast.

i can't count how many times i've heard that said, every time it has been from an SK.

even though it is true i would rather hear it from anyone but your class. guardians don't have AE tools like the 3 other plate tanks, in an AE heavy expansion the 40% AE doesn't cut it in many cases even though i have seen many guards hold AE aggro just fine, usually they are mythicalled and in at least endgame RoK raid gear though with a mix of TSO instanced.

/shrug

At different times, I have had an 80 zerker, 80 paladin, and 80 SK as my main. I have raiding experience on all of them, so I think I have a more accurate grasp of plate tank balance than most people out there. And I can tell you that tank balance is better now than it has ever been since KOS. Of course it could still use some work though.

Personally I find Guardian cries for more dps or aggro control to be ludicrious because those should be the domains of the berserker and paladin. Take those away and we'll return to EoF/RoK days when the Guardian was the best at everything except maybe avatar adds.

To be honest I feel like guard dps is still too close to berserkers to put zerkers on equal ground with guards. However I feel this should be dealt with by improving Zerker dps rather than nerfing guards, because zerker dps should improve more against SKs and paladins as well.

I think guard aggro control is right where it should be to give paladins a niche. Yes, guards have problems with AE aggro control, but if they didn't have those problems nobody would ever need a paladin or shadowknight.

If you feel that guardians are in need of adjustment the only way to go about it without making other classes irrelevent is by improving your survivability. It might not be exactly what you want, but it is what the class was built for, and it is an advantage that has been eroded (unrightfully) by TSO.

i don't really understand where you are coming from. sure i don't raid my guard nor do i want to but i do raid and can see where all the different have stood and currently stand and can tell you survivability with no agro is useless period.

there has always ben Ae tanks and single target tanks it's just that TSO aa and myths blured the lines and now AE tanks dominate everything for the most part and that is not balance.
i woulden't want to nerf other tanks since i play an SK too and am glad to see devs fixed issues they have had for years but my guard needs a single target boost and that DA they lost or something similar to knights stance bonus in TSO crusader AA would do it.

wrong.. EOF was not the guards expansion there where manay many guilds that used zerk and SK MT's and cleard content just fine AND in KOS people laughd at me for playing a guard.

yes in ROK AE tanks felt with out purpose but guard did not take over AE tanking in any way shapre or form. further more only guards that where OP, where mythicalcal, fully fabled guards and the fact that the STA nerf hit regualr guards, that where not over powerd at all is the reason for the inbalance right now.

So let me get this straight. Even though the statement is completely true, just the fact that it is coming from SKs a lot of the time makes you butt hurt? The fact that it is true is enough of a statement for this thread that it shouldn't matter where the hell it comes from. Maybe you see SKs actually saying it because for some damn reason Warriors seem to have sand in their vagina and keep calling for nerfs to Crusaders, specifically SKs. Tanks are better balanced than they EVER have been. Yes there could still be some tweaks. But very very minor tweaks, and even those would be debatable.

Odd too, because a few people prior to me saying it all seem to think tank balancing is finally on par. Its about time for the tanks that fell from the very top to the level of the other tanks to wake up and realize that this is how it should be and is probably going to be until SOE fucks it up in the next x-pac. Any bets on which tank class becomes OP'd next x-pac...my guess is the squeaky, bitch ass wheel gets the grease.

wtf are you talking about? the most balanced time in the game for tanks and all other classes was probably EOF not now.
right now brawlers are a fucking joke and guards need a boost as well taught not as bad as brawlers.

it's people that think things should stay as they are, that have no interest in class balance. as long as the class they play is doing good.

BTW funny how the only people coming here arguing that currently tanking is balanced are people who play SK. no one wants SK to go back to being what they where in RoK when only the best geard/skilled SK could hold their own and the avreage player was fucked.
