Default Best two-box for trio

My wife and I currently run a swashy/fury duo; while we are capable of taking down some tough named, I am thinking about two-boxing (on one computer) and adding a third class to the mix. Right now I'm thinking either:

Zerker/Swashy/Fury
-OR-
Swashy/Fury/Second healer

It seems to me that the Zerker option would add a little survivability and a ton of DPS, while the second healer option (say, a templar) would add a lot of survivability due to more heals plus buffs (mitigation buffs from a templar for example).

Input anyone?

maybe a crusader? you got a hate feed/dps+heals. throw something in there that can take a couple hits.

Hiya Baradin. Long time lurker of EQ2Flames here, I registered just to address that question. I hang out at Dual-boxing.com and we get questions like these more and more lately, because of the huge migration to EQ2 lately.

Probably the best and most synergystic trio I can think of (in my experience) is the SK/Dirge/Defiler-or-Inquisitor. There's a lot of disease resistance debuff that way.

Now that I read a little more, I see you probably don't want to start over either (other than mentoring down to rocket your new account through those old quests). SK or Berserker go great with fury as 2box, so the swash would just be gravy.

Enjoy! Don't hesitate if you have any questions. Also, don't forget to Refer-A-Friend your new account so you get the XP bonus and thangs.

Thanks Mooni! Like you said, I don't want to re-roll the Swash and Fury, primarily because we are both in a raiding guild where our classes are needed, so keeping those two is a must.

That being said, I considered your SK/Zerker suggestion, however I'm now wondering if it wouldn't be too difficult; controlling a tank and a swashy at the same time. It seems that it would be easier to control a swashy and a healer. Which on paper doesn't seem to bad, because with healer buffs the swashy could reach 55%+ mitigation. This would also free up the Fury to hit Vortex and pump out some significant dps.

Thoughts?

Baradin, there are a number of ways that you can make it easy to control a tank and your swashy at the same time, effectively.

Path of least resistence would be to:

- have your swashy on autofollow to your SK
- and then on your swashy put all your CAs into one or two macros.
- then play the SK as normal, with your swashy targetting through your SK, and then you just spam that 1 swashy hotbutton over and over while you play your SK.

Up your survivability, dps and minimise the work you need to do on 2nd computer. Dirge all the way. A crusader will up your survivability, but gimp your dps. The swashy is your dps, so make the most of it and buff him/her up! You get heals, a res if healer goes down, evac, stoneskin, dps buffs, CoB, debuffing etc etc.

Certain classes (aka tanks) really need buffage to shine dpswise, so if you run a crusader, an illu/troub/dirge would work well as a boxed toon to up their dps.

Rogues can make decent dps tanks, especially with your stuns, so why bother with another tank in your trio! Just watch what DPS your swashy will put out with a dirge doing 3 debuffs and CoB!

My votes for Dirge. Personally two box bruiser + dirge. I can use the dirge life transfers to heal me through most zones, his like tab abilities get it back and with the dps i can put out most nameds/trash and everything else dies fast enough that its not a bit problem.

Thanks for the replies.

I am having trouble understanding how a Dirge would be better than a SK for killing yellow/orange named. The Dirge would add dps and some survivability via stoneskin/debuffs, etc; but wouldn't the SK be able to survive encounters that would 2-shot the swashy, even with the Fury healing?

if a swashy is getting wasted in 2 shots your prolly pulling something way outta your league to begin with. The dirge would give your swashy parry, + 800 physical mitigation + stone skins + increase proc rate and prolly a good 1-1.5k dps to your swashy, also if you learn to 2 box a dirge good i can parse about 5k on my bruiser and about 4.5 on the dirge at the same time, which is more than some groups can do. Passive power is nice also though the fury could prolly get some power proc belt or something to help out as well. all in all it would just come down to gear and skill. Gravitas from the dirge on the fury would help healing on nasty pulls and life transfer from the dirge can help heal the swash during spikes. it has all the makings of awesomesause.
