    Default Contemplation: Heroic Opportunities

Last night, I joined a group of players from one of the older guilds on Lucan D’Lere. We visited a few zones including Evernight Abby, Guk: Halls of the Fallen, and Ravenscale Repository. First off the guys I grouped with were great. In all the zones it was non-stop pulls, multiple groups at the same time, really efficient and fun all in all.

It was in Guk however, when one of group members commented on me spamming my Heroic Opportunities. He said he recalled how Heroic Opportunities used to be much better than they are currently. Now I myself, use Heroic Opportunities to try and bump up my DPS by a smidgen, I’ve yet to actually parse if it is of any benefit to me, but I like to think the extra little damage helps out my Troubadour.

The thought occurred to me while we were discussing this mechanic how it sort of breaks up the unchanging rhythm the game has currently (Debuff, Nuke, Cure, ect.). It gives the players something else to focus on and switches up fights, takes a little more concentration from the players and gives something else to work for.

For the most part of the random groups I join now a days, I don’t hear anyone saying: “Hey, make sure you spam out your Heroic Opportunities!” Save this one group about a year back where we were joking around and trying to complete every type of Heroic Opportunity.

I guess I feel like this little thing sort of set Ever Quest II apart from World of Warcraft, gave something for all the classes to work towards other than just the usual jobs. I guess I’m just sort of curious as to other’s opinions… Do you think Heroic Opportunities should be revamped and boosted up to make them more desirable, maybe give them like a group Area Effect blocker or full group cure of all detrimental effects? Do you think they are really just fine as they are now? Do you not really care either way, or feel it’d be a waste of time to invest into?

I spam my heroic opportunities, especially on my scout. And anytime I see an HO stalling out waiting for something I can cast, I go ahead and cast it. But other than that, I've never really tried to coordinate with the group on them.
It's only weird if it doesn't work.

I believe the HO's from bards are actually useful. So keep doing them OP.

The scout full group HO's are pretty nice for those not maxed out on all stats as it gives a certain amount to all of them. With all the item stats now though, I'm not sure the increase to your base stats or haste like the HO's are now are really desirable.

Back in T5, wasn't HO raid-wide? It was useful on raid cause of all the debuffs, heals etc... and tbh, I think they still deal T5 dmg/heal/debuffs... rolf

IE: 50 heal every 4 sec for 24 sec... 300 hp healed over 24 sec! OMG.. l33t!

They have been saying the HO's need an update they just don't have the time or care to update them atm as far as we know.
I still try to get the skills buff HO on my bard and I'll try to complete any other ones on w/e toon I am on if someone else is throwing them out there.

Is that really the case? I mean I know they could at least add some new effects for HO's like say +%15 to all crits for a short duration or something to make it more desirable, but if HO's are still doing T5 damage that would be slightly ridiculous.

Does anyone have any numbers to confirm this? If not I'll have to do a little testing tonight.

if you're not capp'd on skills as a scout the swindler's luck buff can basically be up all the time.. theres a nice chunk of mit that very rarely comes up for tanks.. but still its useful to macro your HO's to your abilities with the same reuse to add a little bit

I'm pretty sure there are still H/O's out there with pretty amazing benefits the %'age based heals / power and I believe unless it got changed there was one rare one that completely restored the groups health and power or maybe it was just power?

Is there some sheet somewhere of all the H/O's that's actually up to date? I don't recall the order of any of them but I got a percentage based power over time a while back and that was pretty sweet.

Scouts' solo HOs are still quite useful for bards, troubs especially. I wont mind getting a free +25 skill boost to my 50-60% hit rates.
