What is the point in resist for EoF and beyond?

Resist gear is almost 100% worthless to every important encounter in EoF now. All of these AE's being based off 'position' and unmitigatable is really freaking annoying. I had 12,000+ resist the other day just goofing around on a mob and it's AE hit me for 9000 damage at about max heal range!!! I think it's about time that resists were actually made meaningful and usefull or completely deleted from the game. At this point in the game putting on resist gear only hurts your dps and it's really pretty freaking dumb imo. Why have gear with +900 to three resists when resists do ZERO!

I cant remember the last time I bothered to check my resists, maybe harla dar. (havent done for a long time btw)

I haven't either. I dunno, I never really have n issue with it anymore, but I still carry about 2.5 bags of old gear with me lol, just in case.

I feel like an old soul when I look at all my regen and resist gear, I used to pay 5pp for treasured stuff with 700+ resists because I always wanted to be the last mage standing.

I'm talking the newer resist stuff that actually has stats on it, not the crafted or untagged garbage.

I finally did a spring cleaning on my inventory. Its been ages since I changed out armor to boost resists. Stashed about 30 items in the bank because you never know, they might fix resists. Now my bank is full of shit ill never use.

meh, the problem is less w/ the number of AEs being unmitigatable as it is with the retarded curve. going from like 7k to 14k increases your mit from 70% to 80%. that's just plain stupid. The curve needs to be spread out more, because any raider who has any raid gear should be ~3k+ on their low resists, and 3k is like 50ish% mit. add in group buffs etc, and you're at the 5k+ and now it's not worht losing stats just to take 200hp less dmg from a 5k AE.

does anyone still think the curves were a remotely good idea??

Were people dressed in brown tablecloths truly complaining to the devs about getting one-shotted instead of making note that they were dressed in brown tablecloths?

But all in all, I think what made resists worthless wasn't so much the curve mechanic as the gimpage of raid mob ae's.
