Default Re: Design-an-Encounter!

Here´s one: Big ass x4 raid mob with whatever strats to kill. Whenever it dies it absorbs whoever dealt it the killing blow (dead, can only revive outside zone with a lockout or wait it out, reduced the no. of players accepted in the zone by 1) and revives.

The trick is to charm one of the heroic trash in the zone and get it to deal it the killing blow. If that happens, it poisons the big mob who dies, drops the chest and allows all players previously absorbed to rez normally inside the zone to join in the looting.

Charming more mobs at once increases the chances of success. They could be of various types to allow Coercers, Troubs, Necros and whatever AA charms out there to all join in on the CC fest.

Make them Undead. That way, we can use Signet charms.

Cazic Thule;

Cazic thule sits upon an altar in the center of a room, upon being pulled, he ports everyone in the raid inside the room in front of him and puts up a barrier so no one can leave.

Cazic thule has high auto attack damage, but it is slower than most mobs.

he has 3 AEs;

Rampage: 9,000~ trauma based AoE, recast 25 seconds.

Terrorizing malediction; an initially incurable arcane which after 5 seconds becomes curable lasting 15 seconds, effects 3 players per group. upon application, causes fear, when cured, damages 50% of targets remaining power and health, if not cured, turns into curse 'Malefic servitude', 10 second charm. recast 1 minute.

Mind Blast: effects characters based on their power pool as follows:

80-100%: Deals 8,000 mental damage to target and stifles them for 15 seconds.

80% to 60%: Deals 4000 mental damage and causes blurred vision and slow casting for 10 seconds

60% to 40%: deals 2000 mental damage and 1000 power pool damage.

40% and under: Instantly kills any player under 40% power.

---

Random Curses.

Cazic thule puts out 3 curses randomly among the raid at the same time with the same recast.

The Reviled: upon expiration or cure, will cause an AE 40% mana deduction, lasts for 10 seconds.

The Repressed: no effect for 10 seconds, whole group death if allowed to expire not cured. recast 35 seconds.

The Revenant: no effect for 10 seconds, and expires without effect if standing next to cazic thule, grants target AoE immunity, if cured or not next to cazic thule after 10 seconds, causes Target to die and spawn 2x Terrorfiend Revenant add, heals Cazic thule 5%, if curse taken off by cazic thule.

----

6 adds similor to ykesha adds, 'Terrorizing imps', berserker mobs.

The Dragon King.

It always annoyed me that the dragons in this game were all wusses, so my dragon will be as hard as nails.

THere are two rooms in this zone, the first is a small room where an adventuring party lies dead; their gear and diaries spread about the place after they failed to kill the dragon king. There are a few items of intertest tho

- The diary explaining this is no ordinary dragon, with maybe a could of hints.
- A makeshift forge that repairs all your armour for no cost.
- An old spellbook with a secret spell designed by the mage
* Stand Firm, target: fighter, roots the fighter in place and causes the fighter to be immune to "claw swipe" knockback effect. Recast 5min duration 1min casting instant. only mages can read and get this ability.
- A book on gold fever which describs in detail how one would squirm and dig themselves out of gold should it fall on top of them. Reading ths book grants an ability; "dig out"; anyone can read and get this new ability.

The second room is a rickety wooden bridge that takes a good 10-15s to run across in combat situations that leads to a floating platform in the middle of a gigantic cavern. Around this platform under it over it there is nothing and if you fall off you'll die after an aggonising 1min fall; during which time your life will flash through your eyes and your screen will fade through random images in your screenshot folder perhaps to some acompanying music :P (there is a reason for this long fall).

On this platform are mounds and mounds of treasure and gold and a HUGE dragon.... like rediculously oversized... makes drusak look like a baby.

There are several larger mounds of treasure which are clickable by anyone in the raid and read the words "bury yourself amoungst the gold. doing so will cast "hiding for your life" on the caster; as they are "teleported" into the gold.

- Screen looks like its a mass of gold coins; you can't see what's going on.
- Stifle/daze/stuns caster
- Grants immunity to "tail swipe"
- Protects against "dragon breath"

The Dragon King

Massive autoattack damage, on a successful block the tank's shield is damaged by 5%; on a successful parry their wepaon is damaged by 5% (mythicals take 2%)... it is afterall a huge dragon!

100% AoE Autoattack, so anyone standing in front will get each hit.

Abilities "claw swipe" casts every 10s can be swiped does an additional 10-20k damage BUT also damages all ARMOUR worn by caster by 5%; knockback unless "stand firm" is cast on them... will knock caster across the room (and down the hole)

Breath weapon "dragon fire"; every 90s (none swipeable) will circle his platform and breath fire EVERYWHERE. This will deal massive damage he will circle either anti clockwise or clockwise and will intimitantly change direction so you can't dodge it very well; tho it is possible. Your best bet is when you see the dragon fly up into the air to begin his flame on to run for the nearest gold pile and jump in. AoE immunity does not work on this effect.

Damage: if you are caught outside it deals 5% max health damage a second. If you manage to bury yourself with gold it puts on an elemental which deals 1% max health a second called: "its getting hot under here!"; once cured this effect stops.

Tail swipe, every 90s (none swipeable), the dragon will emote "insolent insects" and will swipe his tail across the rear of his platform (where he is facing) and anyone hit by it will be knocked off the edge. This can avoided by diving into the gold. This you can avoid by being AoE immune.

Either way... that's the encounter.

How to beat it :

From the tank(s) perspective)- your gear is gonna get mangled.. seriously broken so you need to swap and tag team out with your fellow tanks before you get too broken and run back across the bridge to repair and run back again. Done right you should see the tanks get into a rythem of tank it then run back. from the damage incoming from the swipe it should *just* be manageable by 2 tanks but ideally 3-4 tanks is a lot easier; especially with mistakes.

When you tank the mob you need a mage to cast "stand firm" on you otherwise you're going to be flying across the screen and not be back for over 1mim.

From the mages standpoint

You have to cycle who is casting stand firm on the tanks and co-ordinate with the tanks so they have the spell cast when and where they want it. Failure to keep on top of this means your tanks is goign bye-bye at the next clawswipe.

Aside from that you have to maintain high dps.

Then every 45s you have to jump into the gold to survive either the flame or the tail swipe.

From the healer perspective

Heal like you've never healed before and elemental cures on group every 45s after comng out of the hot gold

From the scout perspective

Aside from jousting into the gold your weapons are the ones which give the most damage; if you engage right at the limit of the hit box you are subjected to the 50% damage reduction... however the closer you are to its belly the more damage you will do; range CAs and ranged autoatatck do normal damage.

So you have to joust as close as you can before running back firing your bow to dive in the gold. - repeat.

Additional

There are no memwipes, and hate is somewhat unbalanced in favour of the fighters (think sisters in SoH); this fight is about survival and teamwork not dealing with constant rescuing from n00b raid members.

There is only one cure which can be cured with a pot. Healers need to CONSTANTLY heal the tanks in order to surviveliekwise the breath weapon needs to be healed up ASAP as well; the hardest part of the healing process is the breath weapon wheer you have to get out and heal your tank up before he is hit again by the dragon.

This fight is all about running and hiding and dealing damage when you can. Peopel dieing will NOT heal the dragon.. hell there is enough to worry about :P

Oh, the bridge once the encounter starts begins to take damage based on how many are standing upon it; and fighting. "examine the bridge and it wil say "fighting on here is a bad idea"; when it reaches 0% it collaspes. The bridge slowly mends but once it is collsaped it will not return untill the encoutner is reset.

In short: can't fight on the bridge but you can still run across it as long as it is only a few people and not the entire raid.

Dragon memwipes if at any time he reaches the halfway point on the bridge and attacks the person nearest to the centre of his gold.

Dragon resets at doorway into small room.
