Boxed healers: Which is the easiest to manage?
I play a 4boxed team: SK/Defiler/Warlock/Illy. It does fairly well, but I've always felt that wards are harder to manage than straight heals. This may be due to my configuration, which I'm currently looking in to.
In the mean time, I've been looking to switching things up: Betray SK to Paladin, switch out Warlock with a Troub, betray Illy to a Coercer (for CH) and switch Defiler with an Inq
My reasoning: Seems like better synergy on paper, and I feel that the Inq is going to be easier to manage than the Defiler. I'm not sure if the Paladin is going to be better than the SK in this setup, but I want to give Paladin a try anyway.
My goals: Handle zones like PoF and OoA alone. I won't be raiding with this setup - it just isn't possible to play each class to its full potential.
With all that said: In everyone's opinion, what's the easiest healer to box?

paladin will work better since amends on your main dps will end agro issues.
as far as healer easiest to box? i think defiler is easiest since i can just ward switch over but for heroic content a warden is best if you're wanting to take down the harder zones. templar is good too because of the all their passive heal/survivability stuffs.

If your goal is to handle PoF and OoA alone then just make a necro.

What are better goals for a 4boxed team? I don't think I'll have better than heroic gear on any of these chars, so I'm not expecting to do anything amazing. This is my first run-through of EQ2 and I have no clue of what my team should be capable of.

Being dumb as I am, I was reluctant to actually *heal* on the Defiler. After I realized that yes, healers do need to heal even if they have wards, things have gotten a lot easier. I rolled a Warden anyway; it'll probably work out better than the Defiler with CH from the Coercer in the mix. They also seem to bring a bit more DPS to the table than Defilers.

well considering you basically have to use synergy to effectively 4box, you might as well keep the SK and coercer, add in a dirge and hm... warden should work best for button smashing i guess although inquis would be fine as well for the same reason

some people won't agree with me but i have been playing a defiler for a few years now and they are by far the hardest healer to solo heal instances with. i also have a warden/fury/inquis, granted once you get the gearz it becomes much easier but i would not use any ward class for a boxed group unless it was a second healer. i would stick with coercer for ch btw.

davngr you are right, I don't agree with you on saying defilers are the hardest healer to solo heal with. Wards are THE BEST "heal" in the game. No question. Why heal damage if you can prevent it?

Re: Boxed healers: Which is the easiest to manage?
wards simply arent everything. its always nice to have someone do the healing part because your wards just wont cover ALL the incoming damage.
i mean like... davngr's dual bard thread was a huge failure to him but this time, his point is really valid and from personal experiences, i agree about the "defiler is the hardest solo healer" thing.

Re: Boxed healers: Which is the easiest to manage?
man....do you guys think that defilers only have wards? just like other healers we have direct heals as well...it's people that don't use them and only wards that are shit defilers. true: wards don't always prevent all damage, but what is easier to recover from, someone getting smacked for 2k damage and having to use the longer casting direct heal, or that same person taking 1k damage and using the faster casting direct heal?
