Default Alternative way to fix the auto attack issues

I personally believe double attack is the biggest problem in eq2 atm and the changes we see now on weapons is an attempt to deal with the issues it causes.

I mean, just look at auto attack/CA damage ratio on some of the classes out there, it totally renders CAs and aas that evolve around modifying CAs uselss since all your damage evolves around ways to further improve your auto attack. Kinda dull if you ask me.

Basically what i am trying to say is that imo whatever they are doing with dw/1h on test wont fix anything and further detoriate gameplay as long as the whole concept of double attack remains. The longer they wait the bigger issue it becomes and harder to balance around classes and the further it detoriates classes that evolve around it.

There was nothing wrong with how auto attack worked prior and if those classes now with double attack needed a dps boost it should have came from CAs.

Assassins are a good example of how all melee classes should work, basically most damage from CAs and auto attack is just the means to sustain your damage, not evolve around it.

EQ2 will be broke as long as this issue remains.

And if the changes on test are an attempt to bring assassin/dw auto attack damage on par with double attack classes, i would rather quit then become one of those classes on which using your CAs has little. . to none. . to negative impact.

If I had my way I'd have eliminated auto attack entirely and made the game CA/spell-centric.

us brigands who do parse high with double attack... we cant just mash CA's we have to time out auto attacks between CA's its not like we dont work for our dps...

They could also weaken the dps gain from double atk by not allowing a double atk to crit. That and reducign the double atk bonus many classes currently have seriosuly 50%+ double atk AA's was always a bit much; rank 8 should of been like the crit AA's and ~20%. But the OP has absolute merit in thier post.

I dont know about eliminating auto attack entirely lol, but it should basically be a fancy version of dots and not have the whole class built around it to the point where CAs become meaningless.

If they removed wizard auto attack I'd be so indifferent I wouldn't even tilt to fart.

well mind you that i do think auto attack is dumb...the reason you dont care if your auto attack is nerfed is b/c it offers nothing for you.

I beleive classes that owe much of their dps to auto attack breeds lazy players but if this would ever even remotely get looked into they would have to revamp CA damage completely to be on par wit other casting dps classes. so this would probably and that means 100% never happen.

Even in the current state there are only a handful of classes that have to work their balls off to do great dps. Illusionist and Coercer come to mind right away.

If auto attack were eliminated then it's natural to expect other things to be rebalanced to make up the difference, and that is why I don't care. Laziness is one thing. But when everyone is out of power and the melee are still sawing and hacking away without a sweat, that's a broken abstraction. Is mana a little fluid you buy in jars or does it quantify effort needed to accomplish something strenuous?
