Default New Encounter Parser

Hellos,
18 months ago, I started my own little parser project, mainly because back then there was no decent one for the German servers. Even now that ACT parses German logfiles, I kept maintaining and using my own parser, mainly because of it's ease of use.
Recently, I was asked by several people if I could make it work with English logfiles and translate the user interface. I had a little spare time today so I did that. I'd be happy if you are bored enough to give it a try and tell me what you think. I only have low level alts on English servers, so I could not test it as thoroughly as I would have liked, though.
If ACT's many options puzzle you and you just want to see the most important stats without spending too much time setting everything up, you might like it.
Getting started:
  • Download the ZIP file from www.streiflicht.net/parsefal, and unzip it anywhere you want.
  • Make sure you have Java 5.0 or greater installed.
  • Double click parsefal.bat to start the parser.
  • If you haven't done so already, enable in game logging (/log command).
  • Choose "File -> Open logfile..." from the menu. Locate your EQ2 folder and select the logfile you'd like to monitor (you'll only have to do this once, Parsefal will remember the file location). While loading the file, you'll see a progress bar on the lower left.
  • While it's loading, you'll see how zone visits and combats are added to the navigator tree on the left.
  • Open zone visits and combats by clicking on the little pluses to the left, like in Windows Explorer.
  • Selecting a combat or combatant will show details to the right. Notice the different tabs.
  • You can sort tables by clicking the respective headers.
  • Enable the combat monitor (STRG-K) to view an "always-on-top" window with the stats of the current fight.
  • Right clicking the combat monitor will give you some options to play with.
I hope that should be enough to get a feel of it. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Ok, One thing already. You say choose the Logfile you would like to monitor.... What if we want to use it on an alt with a different name? It will just parse that also?

You'll have to choose a logfile every time you start the parser or switch to an alt. However, there will also be a "most recently opened list" in the file menu, like in office application, so in most cases that process will take two clicks.

Ok, this parser is uhh... Maybe I dont know how to work it... but even if i did there is not enough options to make it good... i need to post my parses.

Hrm, well it seems a bit slow, plus it seems to bug out for things like the Clear Mind ward proc, Thule's Temper proc, and Master's Strike also breaks out into their own category's rather than being part of the main category.

Ah, I just heard that some spells get displayed as combatants, I think it's an issue with the regular expressions, they need some tweaking... I think I should play more on english servers. ;)

On first glance this is actually pretty sweet. Can't wait to check out the Combat Monitor once I get in game. Awesome job for sure though!

Since I just recently started using ACT and DID find it hugely confusing to start with and while it is Super customizable, it's more than I really need for personal use, I will be Downloading your parser and getting into it this weekend. Keep us posted if you make changes that we'll need to re-D/L to test.

Post them where? An automatic copy-to-clipboard option is included in the combat monitor, both for DPS and heals.
