Aggro Mechanics
Wondering what yall know about how hate works. I've read before that basically, 1 pt of damage = 1 pt of hate, and 1 pt of healing is something less than 1 pt of hate. But I'm curious if the hate just keeps building throughout the encounter. Sometimes it looks to me like the mobs aggro is determined in some way by how much damage someone is doing right now, no matter what they've done previous in the encounter. Not exactly like a mem wipe, but almost like its based on whats been done in the last X amount of time (10 seconds for instance).
For example, when a tank dies halfway through a fight, how the heck can he regain aggro so quick unless something like this is going on. When you die, you get removed from the hate list. The raid might have done 1million pts of damage, with some chars probably easily being over 100k, and the tank can trump that with a few taunts? If thats the case, why is aggro ever an issue? Just start off every fight with that 100k taunt!
I've never played a tank, and never really had much trouble with aggro, so I figure some of yall will have more insight on this.
