    Default Merc DPS questions

    My questions apply to all mercs, but I will use the elite brigand merc Matri Dut as an example.

    I finally landed an elite merc (Matri Dut) a few days ago. I was very excited about the DPS potential, as someone had told me a few days before that Matri can deal 70K easily while soloing and she also boosted his own dps by a good 20K. However, she is only dealing about 30K dps for me on average over a decent sample size of fairly long fights. Furthermore she doesn't boost my dps at all other than when her crazy 6 second 120 potency/crit bonus buff is up, but that only happens every 4 minutes or so.

    Today I talked to yet another person that also has Matri dealing 70K or more. I wasn't able to go in depth in the conversation, but this person mentioned to me that all mercs (not just elites) DPS depends on the players dps. So if the player was raid geared vs treasured gear the merc would be a lot more powerful.

    So here are my questions:
    1. Is it true that a mercs dps is directly related to a players dps? I can't seem to find any information on this. If it's true, wouldn't the mercs of defiler's or templars (players with low dps) also have low dps?
    2. Is there any stat sharing between the real player and their merc similar to how classes with pets share their stats with a pet?
    3. This is sort of unrelated, but how does the /assist command work for the merc? Does that mean he will attack the mob I am currently targeting so long as we are engaged in combat, or do I actually have to be auto-attacking that target before the merc would make a move. (sorry I know I could test this one myself but I won't be able to play tonight and it's bugging me!)
    Thanks in advance. Also, if anyone knows of some extensive documentation on mercs that they can share a link to that would be great. The things on eqwikia and other similar sites are pretty bare when it comes to the merc mechanics.

    To an extent yes. The length of a fight will affect a player's dps slightly. I'm guessing it'll affect mercs more as they have far less abilities than players and they're ran on some pretty basic AI so it'll never be great in the first place.
    You want a cure? What's a cure? Who told you inquisitors can cure?

    Your point about the length of fights makes sense, but what I am trying to understand is if the dps of the merc is directly related to the dps of the player that owns the merc.

    It almost seems as though you have to be sharing some stats with your merc because some people with the same merc as me are getting twice the dps from the merc than I am.

    Elite mercs seem to have about 5x as much crit multiplier as me. Thus, if you are playing a dirge for example, the merc will proc your chimes/crypt for 125 and 350k respectively
    Ripptx :: Assassin
    Towkin :: Dirge

    Until you try to make up for a lack of skill with twice as much effort, you'll never know how much you can't do~!

    AFAIK, the stats of a merc are independent to the stats of the player. As are the mastery of their spells. For example, the Wizard has master-tier spells, whereas the Inquisitor has Adept (go figure). I don't have Matri on any of my toons, so I can't speak for her (I like Perrin for my Illy).

    Barring a few posts, there is a good discussion in one of the forums here about raidwide DPS affecting a single player's DPS. An Assassin pointed out quite aptly that the length of the fight can affect his own DPS, such that in some cases longer fights are more DPS, and shorter fights are less, and vice-versa.
