Default Spell Order for Raid

My girlfriend just got a lvl 70 Conjurer from a friend that went to Iraq. 100 AA's, fully mastered. All fabled. DWotC etc etc...

I know I will prolly get flamed, but can someone go over in order the spells they cast in a typical EH trash clearing encounter for all out DPS.

She uses Fire pet and is str/int - bubble/unabate

Tank pulls and then she casts or does..........

Thanks in advance and sorry for the question but I have never played one either

I'm a nub conjy myself, but precasting or casting Blazing Avatar / Elemental Vestment on inc saves a lot of time.

Before you post something can you read through the fucking forum a bit? At least the sticky or maybe the last 20 threads?

Farz - This sticky is 6 months old and there are no topics that ask this in 3 first 3 pages.

We both read and just want to make sure it is still accurate.

Pre-cast Blazing Avatar (IMO Save Elemental Vestment untill some of the mobs are debuffed, you've used your AOE's since they have longer cast times and they're down for refresh).

Snapping Mandibles needs to be casted every other spell or two spells, this and Fiery Annihilation are your biggest damage sources. I don't have or use some super secret uber perfect casting order, but generally on a single target I do something like this:

SM
FA
FW
SM
BA
SM
Calcify
SM
FA
Dagger Pet
SM
ST
SM
Deluge
SM
Siesm

and just repeat those patterns as spells come up...

On AOE fights, I tend to pre-cast BA and launch Pyromancy on a non-assist target. My Troub waits about 10 seconds before hitting PoTM so I usually try to get all my AOE's off when it's up, toss EV up and spam nuke to trigger both proc's and get another round of my AOE's off before PoTM ends.

In any case, we're not like the other Mage classes and there is no perfect order for spell casting, it changes on a fight to fight basis but as long as you follow a few general rules you'll do fine. I mean with 8 damage spells, 5 of which with < 9s recast time we don't have an all important supreme order.

Also,
If you have a fairly good tank for your raid that can hold aoe aggro off the pull...
Put FW on the hardest/mob that will be up the longest, then go through the casting orders... and if you mess up, put a dumbfire on that big bad mob also.
The HO button triggers elemental vestment, so use that, so does the manastone if you are stunned.
I have also been messing around with FA with jesters cap. Sometimes you can get FA ticcing on two different mobs at the same time, which I personally think will increase dps.

Default Re: Spell Order for Raid

Here's what I do, though I'm not sure if it's actually the best order. For the mage pet keep it on /pet ranged and try to keep it out of range of mob AOEs.

First a note about Plane Shift. It has a 12 minute recast time, so you won't be using it every fight. If you need to cast Plane Shift, cast it before the mob is pulled then immediately start casting Blazing Avatar. Both have a fairly long cast time and short duration, so try to time it so that Blazing Avatar lands just as the mob arrives. If you're not using Plane Shift for that fight, still try to time Blazing Avatar so it lands just as the mob arrives.

Make sure the tank has aggro, then send in pet. The mage pet is the best for groups, but he dies in like three hits, so it's very important not to have the pet get aggro before the tank can get it focused.

Start off with Fiery Annihilation, since it casts fast and it's a DOT, then cast Elemental Vestment if it's up. After that send in one of your dumbfire pets to get the most out of their duration. Aqueous Horde lasts longer than Pyromancy, but the damage is slower. I generally only cast one per fight and alternate them so I always have one ready to go for the next fight. After that, try to follow the special attack chain.

For single targets, use Calcify if it's up. Nice stun. Multiple linked targets, use Shattered Terrain. Seismic Tremor is nice IF you're in range and there's no danger of adds. It's a general AOE, not encounter based like Shattered Terrain so it doesn't need linked targets, but it's an add magnet, and CAN hit mobs on a floor above if the ceiling is low. Not generally worth running into range if you're fighting a mob that AOEs, but otherwise it's nice to see a whole group of mobs flop over at once. There are AAs that effect the casting duration of these spells, so check and see how they're specced on your character.

There are buffs like Pyreshield in the special attack chain, and I generally don't find it worthwhile to cancel them and then recast just to get a special attack because there's nearly always something else you can cast instead.

I am also specced STR/INT, but I generally don't use implode unless I have to. Sure you can recast your pet super fast, but he comes back totally without buffs, and you end up having to take time to at least recast Exasperate. If he's about to croak, by all means, but generally with the mage pet he dies so fast if he gets aggro that you don't have time to get off the spell.

This is just what works for me.

I do pretty much the same as Kahna posted, apart from FW.

SM has the shortest reuse timer of all spells, so I use it as a "filler" between all the other spells, including BA in longer fights.

It's important to know when the spells with longer reuse timers will be up again and put them into the rotation so you'll not stand there waiting for your spells.

Never pre-cast Planeshift unless you're 100% sure about a tank pulling. And cast BA/EV after Planeshift, not before, so they get the increase crit change.

I usually go:

Jesters Cap
Planeshift
SM
BA
SM
EV
SM
FA
FW
