Well of corse but no need to make it even worse by not being at 100 pct max damage.

I bet people only try half as hard when they dont have a troub either...to me that = fail.

This thread is ALL about min/maxing. If you're doing anything less, you shouldn't be raiding.

Maximizing your char/guild/raid to the fuillest regardles of how small of a upgrade it might be over something/someone else

What some might precieve as a minor or nonupgrade due to how small it is...a min/maxer will take/use it because even tho its small/minor it improves yourself/group/raid/guild

Besides toon this also applies to guilds in the classes they bring to a raid...thats why 5 bard/4 chanters/MT gaurdian/MT templar/MT defiler...is the premo set up and that doesnt change. Its the most efficent and useing anything different tho can be successfull is not the most efficent.

Another definition to compliment Bigron's spot-on definition:

Min/maxing = Maximizing your strengths while minimizing your weaknesses.

When you're min/maxing, you're all about the most efficiency. Even if that efficiency is maybe 0.1% more efficient than what you have now, you take that 0.1% because it IS the most efficient.

Ok, in the case your not applying the mix/max theory spending only 3 points in each evocations line spell...Where would you spent the rest of the saved points? Keeping in mind we don't have too many choices in the table, of course, I'm talking in a dps perspective.

This could change depending of what's happening to our scout pet thou, in which you might want to spent some points to improve it. Who knows? we'll see...

If I were to dual spec for Mage and Scout pet, my trees would likely look like this (TSO tree would look the same). That's assuming the pets get buffed to the point where dual speccing for both is practical.
Summoner
Conjuror

The Wis tree really doesn't do jack anyway.

I thought about it, and if I were to just use the bare minimum Evocations points, I would probably spec for Bubble. There's not enough AAs available to us to get Stoneskins without sacrificing points from Conjurations tree (and I'm a real big fan of Enhance Plane Shift). However such a spec would require 40% worn spell haste, and such a setup is not likely to happen.

Bare Minimum Evocations + Bubble

With 4 points in Evocations (20% spell haste), there aren't enough leftover points to do anything really useful with. Maybe you could put 5 in Winds of Velious if you wanted, but if you toggle it like I do those points are wasted.

4 in Evocations + 8 Leftover
