They could limit the size and make only certain mobs flagged for this.
Hell, they could even give us a small selection of regular mobs, and chances are, there'd be something there that'd be better suited for our pet graphics then what we have.

Hmmm, that would be another way to make this work, limit it to global mods, no nameds allowed. And since I am pretty sure that there no non named dragons, so no complaints there. Then they could use my size suggestion, and BAM, conjies would be able to have the pet look the want.

Maybe, if they wanted to actually put some effort into the thing, they could make it so that if you use it on say, one of the cloudmists in the barren sky for your scout pet, when the pet is summoned, it would have awesome weapons.

Thsi would not work at all. The global Table contains only a very limited number of graphics, as they have to be loaded in memory always. So it contains most likely no mobs at all, only what is used by players and their pets. You would be very disappointed in what you could choose from ;)

What would work is a spell like it is used in EQ1: Monster Summoning. It summons a random monster from the zone table you are in. I don't remember how the stats were of this summoned monster, I just remember that it was quite some fun if you were luckly and summoned the Ancient Cyclops as your pet in SRO or something similar.

Monster summoning in eq1 only gives a standard pet a funky graphic, as it is in todays game mostly useless with the recent overhaul of pets in the last expansion for eq1. Necros on the other hand got a few pet illusion spells zombie old school skeleton pet or their boring ass specter that was used from about the 50's on.

Was always fun running around in eq1 though with an Ice Giant looking pet to the ldon camps or something and scaring the hell out of the level 20's and 30's grinding through instance missions heh.

I guess what I meant was any non-named mob in your current zone would be copyable. Non dragons since all are named, but you could still grab a valk, drakota, djinn or what have you.
