The only TSO fight I've seen that you can't do this is Xebnok.

Obviously it doesn't help us when the reactive is trauma or noxious...

Thats a good idea. Another thing I do that works for a few fights such as the Switchmaster ( I have my damage display set as graphics popups and only to show mine/pet) is to just watch for when the pets damage is popping up as 1s and thats when I know to cure it. Do you have a way to set ACT to only ding when you're pet gets an effect or does it go off for both of you?

Yes, ACT dings only when my pet gets hit. You don't even have to rename your pet to do it either.

Frankly I got tired of watching my pet's numbers and waiting for 1s and 2s to show up, especially when you don't even see 1s and 2s unless it crits (otherwise its 0 and doesn't show up at all). And I got tired of watching for my pet to take damage on a reactive.

Only problem is that it also dings whenever Communion pets get hit by a reactive >.<

This is totally not the right thread. Start a new one and I'll be glad to help.

HELP have my pet big and ugly and dps is acceptable at least till I get my Myth but I am still taking more damage than a very large percentage of the raids I go on. You touch on all but how to reduce the damage. Have all t2 or better gear and will continue to get the best I can get but ouch, I need to reduce the damage I take.

Mostly that depends on who is running the raid. I know at pawbuster for example, pets of any sort are not allowed in our alliance raids. This includes dumfire pets and swarm pets also. If you are at a raid and are asked to cancel pets do so. Makes are class look bad to sit and argue. You are not the first to feel naked without the pet nor will you be the last, and our class is meant to use pets as our best "spell" hehe but to sit and hold up the raid with arguments is counterproductive.

How to reduce damage taken on raids:

1. Stand at max range for ranged based AEs unless you need to do otherwise. Often it's not worth getting in range to cast Earthquake at all because you have to constantly joust (running frequently means less casting, which means less DPS).

2. Get your crit mit up if you're raiding TSO zones. Ignore crit mit if you're not raiding TSO zones.

3. Get your resists up. This is the simplest way to reduce incoming damage. But make sure the resist gear you wear is as close to level 80 as possible; mobs check your gear's level, which reduces the overall effectiveness of resists (any gear that's below level 75 is a waste for resist purposes, get rid of it).

4. Wear a dispersion/displacement piece. It won't stop all AE damage, but it will reduce it.

If all else fails, get more HP gear and suck it up. Mages take more damage from AEs as a percentage of their HP than any other class, and have to learn to deal with AEs that can often 1-shot us.

Your raid leader is an idiot if they say no pets. EVERY boss in the game is OK for a pet to be present on, even swarm pets. Pet deaths do NOT buff raid mobs or heal them.

If your raid leader says no pets, then it's time to look for a new raid guild that isn't led by a moron.
