Eh, with all the stoneskins/means to heal, if you really need your hydro pet to survive VP statue clicking... well... /fail

/agree, there's no point to having Hydromancer for VP statue clicking (Druushk and Nexona). There's more than enough resist and dispersion gear (not to mention your self-cast Stoneskin) out there to absorb most of the AEs. The few that get by, that's what Animist Transference and Expire are for, and the recast on these spells are short enough where you have all the bases covered.

Especially in the case with Druushk, there's no reason why you can't contribute DPS with your mage/mythical pet even while on statue duty.

But Hydromancer can give you an AE Blocker (summoning it with communion). The AE Blocker can go on communion pets, increasing their survivability, yourself and 2-3 players in your group.
Very useful for the Kultak fight and there's not much else to put the points in. I already have 5 points in both swarmpets and PS, so it's only one point more and gives a little utility which we all are craving for ;).

But agree, for Druushk you don't need it, just mage/mystical on Druushk. If you need a heal, summon it back, stoneskin, pet sacrifise, send it back

/shrug. It works for me just fine. It doesn't do the group much good when you're in the back. Either way, even though my resists are almost 12k heat and magic, I get hit hard and every little bit helps. I just got my mythical last night, so I don't have to worry about the pet dying after every AE

Hey, this is sort of hijacking the topic, but I'm also looking at a conjuror and I'm trying to learn some things about using the pet in groups.

Do you want to use the Earth, Fire, or Water pet? It seems like you wouldn't want the earth one because it is a tank, but that leaves the other two.

Yup, the air pet sucks. I used to solo with it until RoK came out, but the mobs in Kunark hit like a tank, so he became useless at that point.

I use my myth pet for tanking in moors. It just so much faster.
