Straight up: How is the Conjuror these days?

I just got TSO and have mostly been playing my Coercer and half-heartedly leveling an alt Warlock.

Anyway, starting next week I'm doing Recruit-a-Friend with a dude who's heart is set on playing an Inquisitor. Before you say it, I have no desire to be a faggot Fighter, the only one I'm even vaguely interested in is the lolSK and lol SK so no thanks.

Basically I'm thinking of making a Conj to level with him because fuck it, that's why. No one's come out and said it, but I get the impression that Conjurors are doing pretty well (the parse thread looks promising) and significantly out-doing the lolNecromancer, which is also not an option because all I hear in chat is fucking Necromancers QQing about how the only groups they can get is with their summoned pet.

So is leveling a Conjuror "worth it?" If I enjoy the class I'd eventually want to get in high-end groups and probably raid. Is that a pipe dream with this class (like the lolSK or lolNecro) or is the class actually wanted now?

You would have a far better chance of getting in a high end raid guild with a SK than you would a conjy. Bottom line is that right now there isn't high end raid guild that would take a conjy, and hasn't been in a year, and wont be untill changes are made.

As far as soloing and grouping, you will be fine as long as you don't suck. There isn't going to be anyone shouting in level chat that a group is looking for a summoner, but I still don't have too much problems getting PU groups when I want.

If you can put up with playing a tank, I would recommend you level up the SK. This xpack wasn't nicknamed "The Shadowknight Odyssey" for nothing.

Problem is there are 3 SKs for every one any other class.

My server has pretty much boycotted conji's. Whether it be just the overabundance of completely craptastic conji's on our server giving the class a bad name as a whole or what but I can't even get a PuG group as a conj. I've got a good guild that groups often so I'm not lacking for groupage usually but almost every time I've tried to pug something out of boredom (even the easiest zones) I'm ignored as a conj. I'd suggest picking a diff class tbh.

The odds of getting in a raid guild as a Conjuror are slim to none right now. If your plan is to raid and get groups I recommend creating a bard, enchanter, cleric, or shaman. There's always a high demand for those classes.

As sad as it may sound, this is true. Sure, there's a chance you can join casual raiding guilds, but if you're looking for hardcore raiding, I wouldn't recommend creating a conjuror.

For other casual grouping they are fine though ;), but yea . . .

There are a few of us very lucky Conjys that are in highend raiding guilds, but even then its pushing it. I'm probably going to make a Mystic, Coercor, or Illy eventually. But so far we've been progressing as is...but we offer almost nothing to the table. =/

Yeah...I've been told numerous times by numerous people that Conjurers aren't a 'raid commodity'. I love my class and I play it because I really like it, but I do wish we had a bit more utility, or at least make us like Mages were in EQ1 with the ability to beef up the pets with summoned weapons and armor, or to tweak them so that they can survive all that new spike damage that happens now. Poor Master I Mage pet... even with the three piece TSO jewelery set that offers 750hp per piece for the pet it dies with every AE.

Though I have to say, if you end up being a statue clicker, using the Hydromancer comes in handy!
